No one remembers Metrosexual I guess. It was the 00's attempt at trying to stop the stereotypical masculinity in hetero men.

After comments like these, I wouldn't blame the family for not inviting either of them:

Trump Confusing Him For Jim...

Published Jan 14, 2024 at 5:47 PM EST

Former President Donald Trump's comments at an Iowa rally about former President Jimmy Carter being "a happy man" after bringing up his wife Rosalynn's memorial service sparked fury on social media.

Regardless of all that, it still would be a victory for the integrity of the legal system and the people to see Orange Man in an orange jumper on the front page news.

University Professor with now "prior" students affected by today's raid. The University is neither partisan to foreign events nor a place to take a building hostage for such. It just boggles my mind how anyone, including my prior students could both assume nothing would happen to them and to fall victim to feed such hatred. Hatred is not the answer, it's a proven fact.

Meanwhile in SW Minnesota, my family is using leased solar panels from the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission (mpuc) as part of their crop rotations.

One year, a field gets solar panels, then next year they are moved to an adjacent field and crops replanted where the previous panels sat. They also do soil prep on the field with the panels so it'll be nutrient rich when they're moved again.

It's not rocket science to either rotate them or to plant under them, this story is idiotic.

Very unlucky:

I can't count the number of times l have had to wait 30 effing days to get my refund for a cancelled work flight that I paid for and couldn't get reimbursed for. Sometimes I needed it for bills, it sucked.

Welcome change indeed.

The FTC already said the sale of these stores will have no impact on their decision.

comador ,
@comador@lemmy.world avatar

Same. Both of these companies have done acquisitions over the years, all promising better prices and more jobs when the end result is poorer quality products at the same or higher price and less jobs overall.

I hope the FTC tells them to get bent.

Let's not forget that it was President Eisenhower, a Republican, who directed a Republican House and Senate to pass Dr. Salk's Polio Vaccine into immediate use in 1955.

You'd think these anti-vax nutjobs would let that one side on that fact alone. People are stupid to even consider letting that crap come back and potentially paralyze children.

This is just another form of delay tactics by the defense, nothing more.

The longer they drag out jury selection, the longer the trial runs, which gives them more time for everything from prepping the defense to giving the ranting monkey more time for his campaign.

comador ,
@comador@lemmy.world avatar

Let's see, first there was complaints on Truth Social about not being able to dismiss an unlimited number of jurors without reason for dismissal:

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/trump-gripes-he-cant-reject-unlimited-jurors-in-new-york-hush-money-trial/ar-BB1lNmzY

Then just hours ago the DA asked the Judge to hold him in contempt for poor remarks regarding potential jurors:

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/other/da-asks-judge-to-hold-trump-in-contempt-for-disturbing-truth-social-post-attacking-prospective-jurors/ar-AA1nffCs

Then there's the mountains of previous trial evidence showing the same acts of slowing down the judicial process, which simply eludes anyone to the same conclusion I gave: It's a delay tactic.

Win 11 PC "Critical Process Error" BSOD on every startup attempt

I leave my computer running for long stretches because it also acts as a plex server. I turned my monitor on last night to open steam, and the window didn’t render in; I didn’t think much of it, but before I could restart my PC, I got a “memory management” BSOD. I turned off XMP, as well as taking out each RAM stick, but...

comador ,
@comador@lemmy.world avatar

Sounds like memory corruption. Before you do like the other poster said and run memtest, I'd suggest reseating the ram, possibly in different banks if you can, reseat the video card and then try again.

If you still get failures:

  • memtest
  • update bios
  • dive deeper into the windows system logs for clues
  • then check your ssd for bad blocks using the SSD vendor tools

Always backup your important files!

comador ,
@comador@lemmy.world avatar

Absolutely! Even memtest has a portable one.

https://www.memtest86.com/tech_creating-window.html

There's some to test the hardware and even SSD, but I'd need to know the ssd brand/vendor.

edit: Adding ultimate boot cd as another useful tool that can run on usb

comador ,
@comador@lemmy.world avatar

Most RAM have a lifetime warranty, so please take a picture of the errors and use that to rma (return) to the memory maker for a free replacement.

In the meantime, consider buying new ram (unless you can wait 6 weeks for an rma return lol).

comador ,
@comador@lemmy.world avatar

Suggestion: Look up the mobo and download the tested memory modules for it. In there you'll find part numbers compatible with the mobo that you can shop for online.

“I thought STRIKES were supposed to be ‘unlimited’ when we were picking our jury?” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.

State law, a law that's been around for over a hundred years, limits it to 10 strikes.

That's what he gets for thinking again.

In my 20 years of working in the office and an additional 4 working 100% WFH, I'll throw my worthless internet opinion out there as to why: It comes down to the culture of the company.

Some companies see a real benefit from water tank conversations, face-to-face meetings, and the ability for managers to ask someone in person on a moment's notice to do things. There is also a lack of trust in the employees being able to perform correctly without physical oversight in many companies. Granted and aside from the trust issue, there is some truth to that, but can in fact be realigned with the exact same benefit by retooling communications. It's up to each company however to formulate the best course of action to remedy that and many sadly fail, resulting in RTO mandates.

Unless you are a native Hawaiian, you can only lease the land for 100 years. Further, the cost of living in HI is way way higher than SoCal because everything has to be imported.

Source: ex-Navy who lived there and used to crash open houses in diamond head for snacks when he was poor.

comador ,
@comador@lemmy.world avatar

Had to go back and look it up. The answer is it just depends. Some land is owned by the State of HI, in which non natives can own it where other land is owned by the Natives through the Monarchy of HI and can only be leased:

As a yank who lived in the UK (East Sussex) for several years, I can share the sentiments of my mates there that they believe we Americans still speak a more traditional version of the language than they do now. Specifically pronunciation of words.

For example, Americans have retained the pronunciation of the final “r” in words like “father” and “mother,” while the UK has dropped it. Americans have maintained the “flat a” sound of cat in words like “path” and “class” whereas the UK has mostly replaced that sound with the “broad a” of “father.”

It's not an exact science, but the rate of change in the language there has gone beyond the 18th century version we Americans still speak today and thus, it can be said American English, at least pronunciation, is more traditional.
