Those four words describe my neurofabulous path. Aside from the pleasant alliteration, there is joy for me in understanding how these stages work. I have the same stages for sexuality, gender, political philosophy, plurality and more, but this post is for #Neurodiversity Celebration Week.

Explore - so much research, so much to unlearn, so many family secrets to unearth, so many memories to unpick. Online quizzes and brave conversations. Introspection. There’s no rushing thus - it begins when I am ready for it to begin and it takes however long it takes (usually longer than I’d like).

Embrace - this is me. I am autistic. My mind spins out of synch with itself and with my body and with other minds and bodies. This can feel bad or good, can create problems and solve problems. I have far less control over this than I have wanted to admit. I hate it and I love it. And I embrace being autistic.

Experience - I want to freeze everything in place. I have found and accepted my same same routines and same same clothes and same same foods and same same people. I can finally let go of shame and just feel safe. I want nothing to change ever. I can finally be me.

Evolve - something changes. As much as I regulate the world and myself, nature persists. The only constant is change. What I was so relieved to realize worked is not working as much anymore. I have discovered that I am and can be more than I thought and less than I have required. I can be new. And maybe even … Explore.

For no real reason, thinking about how Dropbox used to be one of the first and most essential things I installed on a new machine, but I haven't used it in years.

Just took a look at their landing page and it’s now some confusing as hell cacophony of pictures and text expressing no clear value or function. Scroll down three screens and you find the single occurrence of the word 'sync’... didn’t that used to be the whole point?

I came across my first obviously AI article yesterday. A cat brought me a mole, so I wondered if moles were edible. A legit article said yes but they taste bad. The AI article, chock full of ads, started out saying moles are a tasty, nutritious delicacy, but then it said never to eat them because they could be carrying diseases. Then it gave recipes for mole (the Mexican dish, no mole meat) and said a good Mexican restaurant will tell you how to prepare them and mole is only served in Mexico.

A disabled friend has come to the realization that his beloved cat needs a different human. I’ll mostly share his description verbatim, with more pics in thread. Please let me know if you or someone you know might be Milo’s human—or boost if so inclined. 🙏🏼🧡 The friend will be moving to Colorado as soon as he can, and I might be making a trip to Oregon in mid-July, so any places between and including Sonoma County, California, and those locations could be doable.
