@notjustbikes The fact Toyota made that new, sleek, Prius and didn't make an EV version is just ... insane

@notjustbikes „Of course, all of this will ultimately suck for cities where we need fewer cars, not different cars.“

This is the basic truth for most European cities and towns. Even the biggest ones – as Paris is currently demonstrating. If the US or Canadian Cities would imitate that then the question would be, what to use all that space for which is currently under the wheels of obnoxiously massive cars (95% of which are not even in use, and the 5% are statistically at maybe 1/8th capacity).

Donald 's 'Glitch' During NRA Speech Raises Questions

“Trump sparked commentary on social media after he stopped speaking for more than 30 seconds during a speech.”

@GottaLaff I've been thinking we need to find clips of him speaking, like 1 minute each, in real time, where you can see his lack of focus or otherwise bizarre speech. He benefits from the tiny clips the media goes for. He rambles for minutes and the media reports on the one coherent thing that comes out.

But this isn't it. It's just not clear enough. Unless it shows teleprompter problems, in which case it's a mild punk b/c he once said Obama needed his teleprompter.

New research shows gas stove emissions contribute to 19,000 deaths annually

California is considering a law that would require warning labels on gas stoves.

I have finally dragged on clothes, so welcome to !

I share my tee, you show me your tee/shirt/outfit, everyone looks awesome and cute, it's great.

Today's shirt is Ashenspire's Three Months to the Gutter tee, art by Hagiophobic.

They're an avant-garde red/anarchist black metal (RABM) band, and Hostile Architecture is one of my favourite albums of the last few years. Equal parts beautiful and brutal, and upholding the rule that all metal bands with saxophones are good.

If you're near London in the UK, they're playing at Desertfest at the Electric Ballroom this afternoon at 14:30.

Listen to them: https://ashenspire.bandcamp.com/music

    @georgetakei This is now making me wonder how many store sign size dwellings we can put on an acre of land. Of course, if we were building them for people to live in that would mean they would need plumbing and electricity rather than a long extension cord to a single outlet.... But maybe we've been making this all way too complicated for a long long time!

    One of the things which baffles me the most about being an adult is nobody but me thinks they are rich.

    I think it’s presumably an us vs them thing, ie people want to believe The Others are rich.

    systemadminihater ,

    @GossiTheDog You seem actually rich due to the things that you post.

    pasquires ,
    @pasquires@mastodon.world avatar

    @GossiTheDog again, maybe.

    I still think “richness” is more a function of wealth rather than income (although I ponder on the “wealthy” aristocracy who can’t afford to run their property).

    In trying to work out why I feel this way I came across this chart - the median UK household net wealth was £300k in 2020.

    There’s a lot to unpick on this I suspect.

    In summary, do I consider myself rich? no; could I be? Probably.
