This was an April Fools joke last week. But given that an Omen, Ghostbusters, and another Godzilla/Kong movie are in the theaters right now, I don’t see how this is effective satire.

Movies are just nostalgia fodder… depressing.

There's a long tradition of culinary April Fools. Atlas Obscura rounds up some of the best, including the famous spaghetti tree hoax, the origin story of "Hansel and Gretel," and the bull ball beer joke that eventually became reality.

once again, I'm asking software companies to stop using april fools day as an excuse to announce a floppy disk edition of their game/software.

at least, don't do that unless you're really gonna sell it to me. or hey, get in touch with me and let ME make it possible.

But it’s stupid slow! 50bps, not 300bps! So prerecorded 8-bit software bootstraps “turbotape” code to use a faster and compressed, but still digital, format.

Using turbotape, you could hypothetically fit roughly 3 megabytes on your 120-minute cassette! So ’s 97,619 1.44MB floppies could theoretically span only 43,885 datasettes, plus any code needed to stitch the split code together. (2/3)

They say every good thing comes to an end, so it’s with a poignant bittersweetness that I have decided to announce my retirement from social media. But you can still keep in touch with me at my substack!

I want to thank all the fans for being so loyal, engaged and hilarious over all these years. It’s truly been an honor of a lifetime to gain and keep such an amazing following. See you over at the stack.

For my annual April Fool's Day prank on our kid, I bought 300 rubber duckies. He woke up as I was surrounding him with them in bed and thought that was a solid prank. Wait until he opens his bookbag and piles of them fall out. Or reaches in his coat and finds it full of them. Or sits down at lunch and friends cover his tray. Or in math. Or in English. Or at the dermatologist's office. Or at his bass guitar lesson tonight.

A new snapshot 24w14potato appeared, adding an entire new dimension, blocks, mobs, paintings and many more. All of them, poisonous 🥔 themed.

Are poisonous potatoes the best Minecraft food? Who exactly is Potatolord of the Fried Legion? We may or may not learn answers to these questions with this very snapshot.

As usual, check out page covering the snapshot, updated as we learn more at https://minceraft.wiki/w/Java_Edition_24w14potato
