Today in Writing History May 9, 1946: Ayşe Nur Zarakolu, Turkish author and activist was born on this day. Along with her husband, she cofounded Belge publishing house. She published books on the Armenian Genocide and the human rights of Turkey’s Kurdish population. As a result, the government imprisoned her repeatedly. Amnesty International designated her a prison of conscience.

Armenian prime minister proposes non-aggression pact to Azerbaijan
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said on Sunday that he has proposed the signing of a non aggression pact to Azerbaijan, pending a comprehensive peace treaty between the arch-foe Caucasus neighbours.

Armenian president signs ratification of ICC membership despite Moscow’s ire
Armenia's President Vahagn Khachaturyan has signed the ratification of the Rome Statute, recognising the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court (ICC) despite Russian warnings, a statement said Saturday.
“Israeli long-range missiles and exploding drones known as loitering munitions have made up for Azerbaijan’s small air force, even at times striking deep within #Armenia itself.
