At UCLA in #LosAngeles, UW in #Seattle, Stanford, and beyond, far-Right pro-Israel demonstrations have attempted to attack and disrupt several pro-#Palestine encampment protests, but have yet to make a real dent in the movement. Via @indybay
People holding it down and re-enforcing barricades today at the #Seattle encampment on the University of Washington campus in the face of a far-Right pro-Israel rally.
#Aurora last night from 30 min east of #Seattle. Absolutely stunning for hours! Such an amazing shared experience we all got to have (irl and as a shining example of the global #mastodon community). 💚🩷💜♥️
If they were hoarding anything but wealth we'd recognize how pathological it is but NO we put them on the covers of magazines & kiss their asses

Joe Biden is holding a fundraiser tonight in Seattle in an hour(4PM today). Joe tried to be sneaky and didn't release his itenerary until the last minute today.
a couple of updates and fixes have been made at the data center and the bunnies have had their greens. thank you being on this instance and supporting each other! #fediverse#community#seattle#ff#followfriday
The conservative event seemed to have over sold their tickets and turned away hundreds of scorned attendees wearing MAGA hats and waving Trump flags.
Right as people thought the crowd of scorned conservatives might find their way to the Palestine protest a pro-Palestine march from the light rail station concluded at the university camp, bringing even more energy!
By the time the crowd of conservatives discovered the Palestine protest several hundred additional community members showed up to support the UW students.
Many of the conservatives attempted to enter the camp but were thwarted by the shear size of the pro-Palestine crowd.
Same night the student gov called a vote on supporting the Palestine protest camp's demands, which passed.
The students chanted late into the night until the conservatives gave up and left.
Coming up May 6, 4-5 p.m. (Pacific) at the University of Washington in Seattle: Yoel Roth, former Trust & Safety head at Twitter and a Knight Visiting Scholar at the Univ. of Pennsylvania, will be presenting "Decentralizing online safety and security: The promises and perils of federated social media," part of the UW Dept. of Human Centered Design & Engineering's Judith Ramey and Stephanie Rosenbaum Distinguished Lecture Series.
It’s been 1 year since Seattle’s Mayor signed a racial and social justice law, placing its existing Race and Social Justice Initiative under the city’s office of civil rights and charging the whole city government with ‘implementing change toward ending institutional racism.’
Hey, if you're in #seattle and interested in #sailing but don't know where to start or how to try it, The Center for Wooden Boats is having a free boating day Sunday.
There are a lot of great sailing programs in the Seattle area. Everybody knows and loves CWB. It's a beautiful place to sail.
Sara Nelson, local aspiring political train wreck, happens to own a bar and brewery called Fremont Brewing. She's in the middle of selling the brewery(likely in the multi-millions). Meanwhile she's not recusing herself from issues affecting the value of this recent and notably lucrative business deal.
Why's Sara a train wreck? Because she likes interrupting anyone who speaks against her by arresting them. Dude got off light tonight 😅
When Seattle residents went to give public comment against ShotSpotter. Sara Nelson turned off the mics. She stopped the meeting anytime people asked questions about the shotspotter contract or support for asylum seeking refugees.
Eventually 6 people were arrested after Sara Nelson and Cathy Moore.
The same group of activist went to the county meeting the following week and had a perfectly normal public comment session with the council without incident.
Hey Fedis! We’re going to a little trip to #Seattle this weekend. Does anyone of you have tips for things we need to do over there? It’s my first time in that part of the country!
