I've read #mdzs#svsss and now #tgcf and I have to say: So far I find Xie Lian the most interesting character of them all. Not to say the others are bad. It's just that Xie Lian is so fascinating! #mxtx#danmei
Just finished reading the main story of "Heaven Official's Blessing" in volume 8 of the series 🌸 The conflict with the main villian has been resolved and after a time of ambiguity about the relationship between Xie Lian and Hua Cheng, it ends in domestic bliss.
There were definitely some unexpected reveals along the way but the plot dovetails nicely with foreshadowing details being explained.

Here's one for you all TGCF fans, another fan-drawn animated MV:

Song: Rolling Girl, produced by wowaka
Length: 3 mins 13 seconds
Notes: Featuring Xie Lian as the rolling girl, Korean subs only, original vocaloid version so the song does sound robotic
Just finished reading volume 4 of "Heaven Official's Blessing" 🌸 It's nice to follow the relationship between Xia Lian and Hua Cheng slowly evolve but in this volume it takes a backseat to many flashbacks and adventures along the way to Mount Tonglu. This series is a very slow burn romance but also a satisfying read.
Episode 9: This screenshot says it all... I can't with their facial expressions here 😆 It could literally be the official poster for the entire donghua #TGCF#HeavenOfficialsBlessing
The year is about to end, and it's time for a #2023Recap <;
I know I'll be busy in the next few days (with prayer that 2024 is kinder to me than 2023, in some respects), so I'll leave this here a bit earlier than usual <:
xie lian is an enormous martial arts nerd and a naive but shining prince; mu qing is pining but hyper-aware of class boundaries and how everyone sees him; feng xin is ready to judge
it's so great and succeeds so well at what it's doing, I love it
I love the last scene, which it ends on, about xie lian's appearance after he ascends. perfect ending to the fic
The fact that Hua Cheng is both rubbish at calligraphy and seems well read in every single language presented in the TGCF world is a beautiful touch.
Why can Hua Cheng read pretty much every script put in front of him? Well, he's extraordinarily intelligent... but I don't think that's the main reason.
The main reason is because HC is so literate is because... if there was a single clue to Xie Lian's presence in any script, any scroll, any tablet, any temple, Hua Cheng was going to make damn sure he did not miss it.
It's such a subtle little touch, but my god is it profound.
This week's #TGCF is chapter 20 of the official English translation, in volume 2: "Heavenly Palace Raid, a Short Salutation to Scare the Gods” (webnovel chapter 47).
This week's #SVSSS is chapter 16 of the official English translation, in volume 3: "Melting Ice" (webnovel chapters 59-63).
Summary: Jun Wu has dumped Xie Lian for being bad in bed. Desperate to get him back, Xie Lian asks his new flatmate, San Lang, to be his sex-coach. His new flatmate surprisingly says yes.

I lost my previous post about listening to the #tgcf audio drama sampler, but it kinda gives me overload watching all the comments flow from right to left in Chinese social media.
I like how this radio drama sounds, but Chinese end user service agreements are no joke. I wouldn't upload to those sites.
Xie Lian stared up at the pile of sticks that was once his great temple, or… at least okay temple? It more than any other place had become his home. He loved the smell of the wood, and the sound of the well, and even the villagers who dropped in with offerings for the Daozhang that they knew was actually the god.
“Not again.”
One would have assumed that once the shackles were broken and his luck restored, these things would stop happening, but having bad luck for centuries was not so easy to shake.
“My my…” Xie Lian turned when he heard that voice that made his spine tingle; an amused black eye glittered on that beautiful ghost-white face. “I apparently did not give gege enough luck”
Hua Cheng strode forward, then wrapped Xie Lian in his arms then initiated an impassioned kiss, spiritual energy between them flowing like warm sweet rain.
“San Lang!” Xie Lian sputtered, cheeks blushing red. “That’s far too much luck!”
“Shall I take some back?” Hua Cheng teased. “I would need another kiss if so.”
“Yes,” Xie Lian leaned forward to find Hua Cheng’s lips once more.
