When the subject is a whistleblower testifying against a massive corporation and was claimed to have said "If anything happens to me, it's not suicide." while the apparent cause of death was a self-inflicted gunshot to the head, yeah. I’d say that would make people suspicious and interested if the medical examiner found anything to indicate it was something other than suicide.
If you let every independent unaffiliated unnominated person running for president on stage it would be chaos. There have to be barriers to entry for it to be anything but.
My assumption is they repaired a damaged section of the wall but the material used on the wall originally was not available so they made due with the materials they could find.
