People need to be paying attention to this disinformation being perpetuated by Musk and APTs.

Signal is far better from an encryption POV than Telegram.

If you want to keep those bytes off the record, do NOT use Telegram.

Note, that not everyone limits the use of the term to the AP protocol. Many apply it to AP, Diaspora, Matrix, , etc. After all, communication between the "sub-federations" is possible.

I'm not excited about any OS release. I'm using exclusively since many years, plus since some time. One of the best things about Debian is, that new Debian releases are not exciting at all 🙂

Das @bmdv könnte da noch mehr machen: Z.B. ein Recht auf anonyme SIMs einführen. Sehr wichtig für whistle blowers, potentiellen Zeugen im Bereich der OK, Menschen, die anonym Hilfe brauchen, z.B. bzgl. Gesundheit, Drogensucht, familiäre Gewalt usw.

Interesting, just discovered an XMPP based alternative chat client - recommended by a new acquaintance in my local LUG for snikket.

federated, decentralized XMPP with a standard set of XEP's (if you ever got that deep into xmpp, xeps are the service modules that enable features - think of them as protocol plugins/extensions)

Not sure I'd throw back in with XMPP right now but interesting all the same.

TTBOMK, by @snikket_im uses a branded for Android, and a branded for iOS.

Snikket server is a branded and pre-configured

It should be compatible with every modern client, including for desktop and for web.

I've been doing more research on email servers and email hosting.

It would be great to talk with a Sys Admin who handles email for multiple domains and clients.

I am working with a company who has been doing web design and hosting for their web design clients since the '90s.

They hosted their email starting way back when and have been using the same email server pretty much ever since. It needs to be replaced soon.

The question is what to replace it with.

Host our own? And all the complications that come with that.

Manage the email but host somewhere else with a company that specializes in email? Such as MXroute:

Host our own email IMAP accounts, but use a separate service for sending mail so we don't have to worry about deliver-ability?

Let me know if you have experience with a similar situation.

Am Osnabrücker Altstadtbahnhof ist das erste vollautomatische Fahrradparkhaus der Stadt eröffnet worden. In dem 16 Meter hohen "BikeTower" können rund 160 Fahrräder geschützt abgestellt werden.

Wenn @bfdi es von unseren Steuergeldern finanziert (2.5 M€), dann bitte !

Die Smartphone-App gibt es offenbar nur für Google- und Apple-Betriebssysteme, weder für noch andere -Varianten.

Warum nicht optional auch mit einer Karte? (Z.B. RFID)

Bei all den negativen Entwicklungen, insbesondere bei und auf niedrigem Niveau steigende Zahl von Läden und Restaurants, in denen man nicht mehr mit zahlen kann, ist es nicht leicht Positives zu finden.

Immerhin das: Bei gibt es spannende Entwicklungen bzgl. Gateways: Einerseits AP gateway ( ⇔ ) von @Goffi, andererseits (⇔ Matrix, Signal, Telegram, Whatsapp und mehr) von @nicoco.

Signal, Threema, Telegram and Wire are centralised, closed systems, which I'm not fond of and wouldn't consider.

Element and SimpleX are alternatives, indeed. However, I'm already on since ≈2014 and forced all my friends and family to use it 🤷

One of the more limiting things about Signal is you have to give out your mobile number to everyone. Even if it is a burner, I still don't want to advertise to the world that it's mine.

Was happy to read today that Signal is now beta testing a new username feature.

I never used Signal for three reasons. Requirement of phone number is one of them.

The other two issues also need to get resolved:

  1. Signal is a centralized service on the Amazon cloud AWS. I want free choice of server, like with / . .

  2. I want a first class citizen client for my OS (Linux / / ), not Electron bloatware. I do not use Android or iOS.

(I'll stay with / , which exists since 1999 and still works fine.)
