Just pushed a new protoXEP for implementing Remote Control in #XMPP, along with an accompanying implementation in #Libervia!
This is exciting, as it enables not only Remote Desktop, but also controlling devices without video feedback - like using your phone as an ad-hoc touchpad, laptop keyboard to control a Single-board computer, or making automation scripts, and more!
It's designed to be extensible, with plans to add clipboard sharing and gamepad input. Thanks to #NLnet for their support!

Après, si ça cible des utilisateurs ou utilisatrices dont les parents souhaitent limiter les usages de connectivité aux fonctions d'appels et SMS/MMS, le concepteur peut très bien fournir le reste des outils comme à l'époque.
Pour des applis, mieux vaut attendre un remake du 6301. 😜
Just set up my own instant messaging server through @snikket_im, the process was very easy and non-technical 👍 Was especially pleased with how they handle the domain name, you can use your own (with lots of help given including an interactive settings tester) or choose a subdomain of snikket.org.
Snikket runs on #XMPP / #Jabber and is compatible with non-Snikket servers and apps.

Are you running #Conversations_im on an Realme or OnePlus devices with stock ROM? Are calls still working for you on version 2.14.2 and above?
Not working would likely manifest itself as a dialog that says "Call not sent" or the operating system opening the default calling app instead of the Conversations UI. Incoming calls would likely be rejected as busy immediately. (There may or may not be other symptoms.)
Please let me know either way and tell me your Android version.

In der Praxis spielt das wahrscheinlich kaum eine Rolle (Hauptsache kein FCM/APNS) aber bei Threema steht ja auch Threema Push und nicht WebSocket.

Note, that not everyone limits the use of the term #fediverse to the AP protocol. Many apply it to AP, Diaspora, Matrix, #XMPP, etc. After all, communication between the "sub-federations" is possible.
Curious how none of the coverage of this launch mention that the app isn't actually open-source (though they pretend to be an open-source project), which makes all of their claims of "end-to-end encryption" worthless...
@Samsy@arbocenc#XMPP can run bridges (called "Transports" or "Gateways" in XMPP terms) since the early ages. And nowadays, there are modern ones with tight integrations: #Slidge being a flagship (including a #Matrix gateway), and I'm myself working on ActivityPub gateway and soon a email one with #Libervia. #Cheogram is also working on SMTP gateway. And #Biboumi is the flagship #IRC gateway.
