If you’ve got a glass phone without a case or insurance then you kinda running this risk.

I hate insurance, but on a phone I’ll take AppleCare. Once it’s getting towards the end I purposely wreck the phone off a wall and get brand new (refurbished to new standard) one. Then I sell that and upgrade again.

How good can it be? I’ve been driving 35-40 miles to work and the same back for a year now and Apple Maps tells me what minute I’ll arrive and I usually arrive within 3-5 mins either side.

So my first role as a developer I’m working on an application that runs various classes for children, the parents sign up but it’s children they’re booking for.

We use reactstrap and there is a package called buttonasync and it has a method of executingChildren, let’s say I was a little confused.

As someone who is aging. Late thirties. How can I keep my finger on the pulse of current trends, particularly in music?

As an example. I grew up in hip-hop but at a certain point I stopped listening to new people and realised recently that I’d slept on some bangers. Like Kendrick particularly, but even people like Juice WRLD and Xxxtentacion....

Very good point. I’ve often ignored the recommendations from Apple Music as it was heavily skewed to classical but I’m not really down for finding new classical, but I’ll see if I can coerce it to offer more hip-hop or even conscientious hip-hop which I didn’t know was a think until this thread but it seems to be the stuff I gravitate to more. Kendrick and Akala seem to fit that bill.

This is helpful as I also like a bit of metal. System of a Down are probably my favourite so I’d love to find bands like that. It’s Serjs lyrics I like, like the conscientious hip-hop genre I feel lyrics more than the music although being a banger doesn’t hurt you know.

That makes sense and perhaps it highlights what I go for most in music, which is the lyrics.

As I can confirm Kendrick was not an easy listen at first as the beats are very different, but lyrically god damn is it worth it to take the time to just keep listening. Dudes on par with Eminem on his word play, and beats him on social commentary.

I think you might have my motivations a little confused.

I don’t want to be current myself. I want to keep up with current art, as it’s fascinating. Should I have not gotten in Beethoven and Chopin because those were before my time?

I don’t listen to vapid pop, pop music and what’s popular in different genres are two different things. I know I’m flogging this horse in a few comments, but Kendrick is certified lyrical genius and I never would have found him hadn’t I put the work in.

It’s not to make friends, hell I’ve got too many friends and I don’t need anymore. I don’t even share the new stuff with them as they don’t care, which is cool.

I do like what I like , hence I want to find more of what I might like you know.

I know you said it’s just your opinion, but I hope this gives more perspective on my intentions here, this is for me and me alone.

Concerts is a good idea and I like to do things like that on my own anyway, nobody I know would ever come to a classical music venue so had to fly solo.

You can use the zeitgeist to get a measure of how things change over time. As I believe music is the most emotive form of expression.

Alls I can say is you’re listening to the wrong kind of music is you think all current music is vapid.

I’ve already mentioned Kendrick, who won a Pulitzer Prize I might add. There are plenty of people with conscientious lyrics. Dave would be an example from the UK, his album We’re all alone in this together is top tier. Three rivers is legendary and very political.

I don’t want to seem like I’m being aggy here, but perhaps you could take my approach to seeking out this kind of stuff as there is more than just industry knocking out clones. Sure there are plants and stuff but there are real artists out here still.

It’s honestly quite arrogant to think great artists stopped at our generation my guy.
