for Monday 😴

Peaches! Peach trifecta edition.

  1. Last week I discovered the local store was having a sale of peaches from Egypt so I bought a carton. When I got home I discovered to my delight they were YELLOW PEACHES. To explain, whenever there's stone fruit season, locally they tend to stock only white peaches when I really prefer the more tart and juicy kind (aka yellow peaches) which I had in abundance in Australia. So I went back the next day and bought another two cartons. 😹
  2. The local pharmacy's store brand body shower had peach scented variant which possesses all the things more upmarket brands could not give me. Also at a member's only discount of...RM8. For a TALL BOTTLE.
  3. Peach and coconut scented candle is burning right now to complete my peach fragrance bliss.

Guess how much I love peaches.

Positives of the week that just passed:

  1. Sales of are picking up.
  2. I rejoined Codex Writer's Group and didn't realise how much I'd missed about being a Codexian
  3. I can't get over the offer to contribute to a potential special issue at one of my top 5 bucket list journals. I feel a bit weird saying this because I know it might all just fall flat; I've been disappointed before. But I'm hoping for the best. It was a good reminder of why I'm in academia, so I will be content with that.

  2. Some POSITIVE academic developments not related to my dayjob. But it's really nice that I'm still getting invites to contribute things etc. Also this one is for a bucket list journal for which I've been wanting to submit stuff for ages (but lacking the courage).
  3. Captain Jean-Luc Picard of the USS Enterprise.

for the day that's passed (it's the wee hours of the morning here and I'm still line-editing my novel).

  1. Everything I planned on cooking today turned out wonderful.
  2. A good music practice session today.
  3. With age comes less emotional angst over silly things, although I still have my metaphorical teeth-grinding moments over seemingly random negative interactions. I've had a sort of epiphany that the metaphorical teeth-grinding is my subconscious telling me there's a bigger problem that needs to be addressed/fixed. Still, I'm glad at least that I am more settled in myself and less angsty over dumb things during holiday seasons. If you know you know.
