Any #cdrama fans watched wuxia ‘Heroes’ (2022)? Thoughts?

Viki is streaming it. Noticed it has my crush Liu and Joseph Cheng in it. Plus Baron Chen as villain. Director is same as the beautiful Farewell My Princess.

Based on a novel by Woon Swee Oan, the Hong Kong-based Malaysian Chinese poet and writer who also inspired series & film, The Four. The novel is about the nature of heroes.

Looks good but My Drama only gave it 7.9/10!

Disney+ Star decided to get into streaming #kdrama over a year ago. It was a bit odd as they don’t stream the equivalent for #cdrama & #jdrama - which are bigger markets.

They also went for suspense & thriller options such as Vigilante & Big Mouth rather than romance/sageuks.

One series - Moving - has collected major critical acclaim, topping best of 2023 lists globally.

Part SciFi, part thriller, part comic coming of age, it is deeply steeped in metaphors about Korean history & politics.

A while back, I saw an old blog post about someone's favorite kdramas and it listed 2013's #FlowerBoyNextDoor starring Park Shin-hye. But I sadly couldn't find it anywhere, so just added it to my to-watch list.

Today, while digging through #kdrama availability across streaming platforms, I found it on TWO: both Tubi and Amazon!

Let me say: the first episode is absolutely hilarious! I think this is going to be a good one...

Premise: a shut-in woman spies on the hot guy whose apartment is across from hers. There are also cute guys next door. And then a new one moves in down the hall. And then the hot guy's brother arrives from overseas.

Did I mention the hot guy also has a cute puppy?

I haven't figured out which one is the "Flower Boy Next Door" yet ... 🤔

Excited to see #Netflix has just released the #Indonesian historical romance drama Gadis Kretek (Clove Cigarette Girl).

When I lived in Sumatera - 40 years ago - I loved smoking kretek. Such a sweet flavour and delicate aroma from hand made #kretek.

Getting just the right mix of tobacco & #cloves was and still is an art form.

That an entire series is centred on the artisan traditions of clove cigarettes of #Indonesia makes me really curious to watch! #tootsea

I’ve lived in #yellowknife. Beautiful city. Dene territory is gorgeous. Full of lakes.

But the city is built on the glacier-scraped granite of the Canadian Shield. When the surrounding short scrub conifers & bogs dry up, it means everything becomes tinder. Once fires start, they can run through bush incredibly fast.

There’s a reason Fire Services want 20,000+ people out ASAP.

I watched the excellent Chinese-produced Three Body Problem #cdrama this spring and now hear that Netflix will release the Game of Thrones/Brad Pitt produced version in January.

The original famous sci-fi novel series are complex philosophical meditations on time, history and physics.

Glad more of the world will be able to learn about its genius soon… and read the books! #threebodyproblem
