Post News was one of many alternatives that emerged in 2022 during the implosion of the Twitter platform. Seemingly loved by journalists, but limited by a ridiculous invite-only launch strategy and the creation of bogus accounts intended to lure publishers to the platform, it always remained very niche. And now it's dead. https://post.news/@/noam/2fJw4PYRFjya343RpiToiyEQr0x
hey so if you have a #spoutible account you need to immediately scroll to the end of this post, take the four steps listed, and then read the whole post. a vulnerability that was just fixed made it possible for an attacker to take complete control of your account without you getting any kind of notification.
#Spoutible is an alternative social media platform, and it’s adding an #AI assistant named “Spouty” that will be able to assist with basic support questions, as well as respond to commands like “Remove any followed accounts if they haven’t spouted in over 6 months.” Or “Follow the top 15 accounts in the tech industry.”
Catching up on some conversations I missed on Spoutible - I see some discussion from the organization that they have no plans to support authentication with all Mastodon servers, just a chosen few.
There seems to be a misunderstanding of how API authentication and tokens work on the platform. But I'm not about to step into that conversation, because I myself have questioned it!
The #Mastodon software setting of #Spoutible is now a dropdown menu. Currently only for mastodon.social and mastodon.online.
Maybe it's temporary but if it's not, they'll have to add at least a hundred reputable and popular servers. Also, it's Mastodon software only. There are far more software, older and/or better than Mastodon which will probably not get support, at least as far as the approach I am seeing.
#Spoutible is knocking on #Mastodon's door with an initial cross posting test with mastodon.social only. Only text posts (no media attachments or polls(?)) are sent over.
This post was created in Spoutible, then cross posted to #Bluesky and Mastodon.
