"Despite their seemingly factual nature, Renaissance maps are considered significant art objects. How can we best read them to understand more about this period?"
Tip, if you ever need it: take a lot of photos of your house for insurance/disaster reasons. More than you think you need. Of all the random details of stuff -- where shelves are, what your drawers look like, what pictures you have on the walls. Having just gone through a remodel due to a plumbing disaster, there are a lot of places I had wished I had photos of (ie the laundry room cabinets, the inside of the kitchen cabinets!) #disaster#tip#disasterpreparation#insurance#disasterprep
I am trying to set up KDE Connect between a machine running Linux Mint and my Android-device. It does not show up, and it turns out I don't receive any response if I ping it, and I have the same issue trying to ping the machine from my Android device (from Termux). I've tried two different Android devices, but no luck....
Sweet! Here comes a random tidbit now that your problem is solved.
Easy screen mirroring of android to linux:
Prereqs:
Setup DHCP to always assign the same IP to the phone.
Install adb and scrcpy on the Linux machine.
Allow the linux machine to usb debug the phone.
Allow wireless debugging in the phone settings.
.bashrc function: #Connect to Android and view phone screen #Tip: If using PIN on lock screen you can unlock by entering PIN + Enter even if screen is black function phoneconnect(){ sudo adb start-server adb tcpip 2233 adb connect <phoneIP>:2233 scrcpy }
Simply write phoneconnect in terminal when both devices are accessible on the LAN and you can remote control your phone. Some applications will blacken the screen on the computer if sensitive data is shown.
This one is rarely asked and advised: you can't lend to someone else your credit/debit card.
Here in the Philippines, all credit/debit card use are checked. If the name on the card is suspiciously not the customer's name (for example, it's a man's name, but the one holding is a woman), it will be questioned and held.
For credit cards (not debit cards), signatures are also required. If the signature did not match the one on the back of the card, the card will be held by the store.
The only exemption to the rule is if it is a company credit card. As long as you can show a company ID, it will be allowed. This is especially true if the company card is Black, because there are no Black credit cards in the Philippines (at least, I haven't seen one; I've only seen it from Korean and Japanese partners).
There were many incidents of foreigners getting stuck because of lending their cards to a friend or relative. One such was in a supermarket.

Protein (even plant protein, such as tempeh, tofu etc) does tend to stick, so needs a little more care. But it's perfectly doable. @vegancooking@wfpb

Cool KDE Plasma Tip: Quickly access task manager apps with [Meta] + [number]
@kde's task manager usually lives in the panel located by default at the bottom of your desktop (see attached image).
Quickly open or display apps shown in the task manager by holding down the [Meta] (aka "Windows") key and hitting one of the number keys at the top of your keyboard.
Reach the first app on the left with [Meta] + [1], the second from the left with [Meta] + [2], etc.
