Screenprinter and lino printer. Illustrator. Music nut. Trying to make music as well as find every bit of new music that's good. Lapsed photographer.

Trained as a cinematographer. Diagnosed with ASD as an adult, with anxiety and paranoia. Trying to find a way forward. Printmaking saved my life!

    This print was also very popular at Cheltenham and Wakefield. We sold five!

    Thankfully I recently printed some more although it's already getting to the point where I need to print more.

    I try to make a lot of entry level affordable prints because I know that times are tough at the moment. But I might still print that Mousehole print yet!

    A few weeks ago, someone asked me what makes me happy or what I enjoy doing. I said, among others, that I liked playing the guitar very much, but hadn't done it in a while. Couldn't say why I hadn't.

    This bothered me. I thought about it and finally found out why I had stopped: I had played something for a friend and felt very ashamed afterwards. Why did I do it in the first place? Why this song? How could I even think it was worth showing?

    Can't seem to get over it.

    @Sci_Fi_FanGirl @actuallyautistic I stopped playing guitar for 10 years because of anxiety. I used to have to perform for my guitar teacher. I tried to unlearn everything. Now I'd like to learn again for myself. I hope you can find a way to do it again.

    JohnBloor ,
    @JohnBloor@neurodifferent.me avatar

    @Sci_Fi_FanGirl @actuallyautistic I played for about a year. I haven't started again (anxiety) but I intend to. I really enjoyed it before. I need to record some guitar for my son's game soundtracks too.

    Was anyone else misdiagnosed bipolar2? Rapid cycling?

    I've long suspected that rapid cycling bipolar doesn't exist. Even before I figured out the autism part, I was a horrifically sleep deprived drunk--of course my emotions were a little loose.

    JohnBloor ,
    @JohnBloor@neurodifferent.me avatar

    @poloniousmonk @autisticadvocacy @actuallyautistic how rapid is it? I'm taking tablets for bipolar and experience highs and lows during each day when it is happening.

    When someone says “sorry to hear that” in response to sad or painful news is that empathic/compassionate or is it self centred and the speaker is just sad they have had to hear the news ?

    Yesterday Elon Musk told advertisers to go fuck themselves and threatened to send his mob after them if they pull their ads from Twitter/X.

    Over the years, he built a reality where he was a genius who could never be wrong. But as his fantasy collides with the real world, Musk is melting down — and has the power to make us all feel the pain as he crashes back to Earth.

    Do you need help with using Mastodon and the Fediverse? Especially if you're a beginner or unsure about techy things?

    You can ask by messaging me or replying to this thread, and I'll try to help or find someone else who can help. Don't worry if a question seems silly or basic!

    You can also look things up on the guide at https://fedi.tips, which has an "essentials" section at the top and a complete list of answered questions below that.

    Do you use the word "Neurodivergent"?

    Do you think it's ableist?

    If you don't use it, what word do you use?

    Here's another one of my recent prints, Mevagissey Harbour, a six colour screenprint which I started editioning earlier this year.

    It is from a series of photographs I took of the harbour. I did not trace it from the photograph though but redrew it and interpreted it in my own way.

    It features four colours and two transparent blacks. And lots of textures and natural media elements.

    It is quite large at 48 x 38cm.
