Giving @librewolf a try. I like the idea of a browser specifically hardened against browser fingerprinting and tracking. Runs all of my existing Firefox plugins with no problems
So, I saw Civil War last night and while it’s well-made with good performances, I don’t quite know what to think of it. Have you seen any good reviews that might help me make sense of what, if anything, the movie was trying to say? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDyQxtg0V2w
@kottke He isn't saying anything which appears to be the main critique so far. How you can have a movie where the president is a white-nationalist that executes reporters and try to stay apolitical is beyond me. Seems like a truly wasted opportunity
20 years on with no more than a Facebook place holder account (no friends, no followers, no posts), I continue to feel smug and wonder how/why anyone who values privacy would use this site.
I know people joke a lot about uninformed VPs and CEOs making ‘hand wavy’ decisions about things but this clearly looks like someone saying “we need to add NFTs” without any real details or understanding
No new podcasts given the season so I was working through older episodes I missed. The Tech Won't Save Us episode with @emilymbender was excellent. @parismarx lets his guests talk and knows how to move the conversation. I learned quite a lot from the episode. That said, I could listen to @emilymbender talk any time.
@marthawells Please tell Tor to get their own e-commerce site for ebooks. I'd rather give them money for a digital copy of an ebook that I can backup and always have access to.
@molly0xfff Don’t find a platform. Build your own. :-) Host a site on Wordpress and then look for service providers for things like newsletters and payment processing.
I actually can’t believe that the smaller service providers aren’t trying to work on marketing to take advantage of these frequent Nazi outbreaks at Substack.
@molly0xfff From what I have read recently, having your email go through something other than Gmail or a similar large mail provider is fraught with peril. I’ve even had issues using Proton. I would not try to host my own email any more.
Which saves you the unnecessary chore of slogging through mail daemons and log files. :-)
Israel-Hamas War: This viral image of a baby trapped under rubble turned out to be fake
The war between Israel and Hamas has generated so much false or misleading information online that even fact-checkers and analysts are having a tough time keeping up. Social media is flooded with misleading posts and AI is making things worse.
