MG is out as well. MG is short for MGB which is a small, older sports car that even in its worst condition probably has less milage than the above Karen.

The coffee is consistently burnt

It's designed that way. The bitterness is supposedly a better pairing with milk and sugar.

remotelove ,

Every time I see this poster here, I am going to post a picture from the last concert I went to.

It doesn't seem like they are coming through Denver again for a while. :(

remotelove ,

That poster is from years ago, unfortunately.

remotelove ,

Homie got ded. He's ghosted, slid out his flesh jacket, closed the shop, and joined the unseen squad. Homie's no longer rockin' that pig kidney.

remotelove ,

When someone is feeling down, I point them right at a little place called 4-Chan. Those are some of the most wholesome people you can find on the internet! Everyone is so humble, they won't even accept credit for all of their goodwill so all of their posts are anonymous.

(Seriously, this post title is almost nottheonion grade.)

remotelove ,

He will be fine as long as he stays far away from any windows, cups of tea, moving vehicles, suspicious looking umbrellas, boats, planes or anything soft and furry.

remotelove ,

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

remotelove ,

Throttle your posts, for fucks sake.

remotelove ,

Yeah, like many other people, I browse /all. Dudes post flooded my feed, basically.

Also, that account should be tagged as a bot. While some people may post this stuff manually, it seems kinda stupid to do so. I have no issues with bots unless they aren't tagged as such. (I tickles my OCD a little, I suppose.)

Meh, I just blocked OP and all is well.

USA Lemmies: Where do you live?

I comment a lot on stories having to do with state governments and legislation or regions of the country. It got me wondering how many people I'm accidentally disparaging when I don't mean everyone in said state or region is terrible. So… Please be as specific or obtuse as your privacy filter requires. I'll start:...

remotelove ,

A suburb north of Denver.

You are going to find a metric fuck-ton of political diversity in Colorado. While it somewhat follows a fairly standard pattern of cities being blue and the countryside being red, it gets much more complicated than that here. (The elevation and mass quantities of craft beer does strange things to a human after a time.)

remotelove Mod ,

That sounds illegal or extremely fun. I can't quite tell which.

remotelove ,

Ultimately you need only a tiny fraction of that data to emulate the human brain.

I am curious how that conclusion was formed as we have only recently discovered many new types of functional brain cells.

While I am not saying this is the case, that statement sounds like it was based on the "we only use 10% of our brain" myth, so that is why I am trying to get clarification.

remotelove ,

That is Cunningham's Law. (It was named after Ben Franklin.)

remotelove , (edited )

Shit Sabine Hossenfelder would say. (She funny tho..)

Edit: I had no idea about her questionable actions so that is news to me.

remotelove ,

Ok, that I didn't know. Off to find some references.

(I have fairly strong opinions about people like that. Hell, I refuse to watch any Tom Cruise movies because of his association with scientology, just as an example.)

remotelove ,

If the Prophets wanted me to step down, surely they would've told me so.

remotelove ,

I am glad nobody gives a fuck about what Hungary has to say. Unfortunately, they still have voting power in NATO, so that sucks ass.

remotelove ,

Is that gif supposed to be going mach 10, or is my client just freaking out?

remotelove ,

All you need to do is compromise a network and setup and authoritative DCHP server. What could go wrong?

remotelove , (edited )

It is all interesting, but most core network services are jointed at the hip. If you can tamper with one service, you can usually fuck with all of them. Also, DHCP is much more than "gimmie an IP address". It's kinda always been a way to configure almost anything at layer 3 on a host OS.

Calling this an exploit is a bit of a stretch and why they focused on VPN bypass is kind of 'meh' compared to all the rest of the things you could do If you control the routing tables on a client. Hell, if you control DHCP, you control client DNS as well, so that could be fun to abuse too.

This kind of report is almost like saying 'rm -rf' is an exploit after you give someone root access.

Edit: This is a coffee-shop'ish type of attack. I am aware of that.

remotelove ,

I wonder if they are sticking with NVIDIA for the GPU? With NV being swamped with AI and PC GPU demand, it would be interesting to see if they switch teams to AMD. The price would probably be much better...

(The rumor is that an announcement of the 5 series GPUs is comming soon from NVIDIA. I heard that from Gamers Nexus, I think)

remotelove ,

Somewhat unrelated question: What does a standalone unit like that get you? Eventually, you would have to migrate the tracks to a PC or laptop anyway, so why not just use a laptop and your DAW of choice?

Having the pads is nice to have, but is really worth it?

What is the use case, is what I am asking. Is there a benefit for live performance?

Edit: Since this will likely attract other digital music folk, are there any good Lemmy communities to check out for music production?

remotelove ,

Looks like we need to make one then. Dunno how much traction it will get but it's worth a shot.

remotelove ,

That actually got me wondering what type of long range munitions an SU-34 can carry besides a Kinzhal.

Reading up a little, It's highly likely that they are using improvised glide bombs, S8s and KH-29s, but those would be limited range munitions better used on the front lines.

However.

FAV-250's have been used on civilians in the Belgorod region, where that plane was reported downed (from Russian sources). So yeah, those two were probably part of those civilian bombings.

How do people actually dumpster dive to get free food? Are there any other cheap/free ways like this to get food?

My local food bank can only provide 8 packages with referrals every time before you run out, and I have, but my situation hasn't improved financially due to various set backs and I'm struggling to feed myself. I've heard that supermarkets throw out massive amounts, but have never been in a position where dumpster diving seemed...

remotelove ,

the wealthier areas may very well have unlocked/unguarded dumpsters

The fuck kind of world do we live in where we need to guard dumpsters?

If it was a tech company that absolutely needed to ensure data was destroyed and absolutely couldn't take a risk even with regular office trash, sure. Spend the cash to guard the dumpster.

Locking up and guarding food "waste" that is a day beyond a fake-ass sell by date? Really?

(Obviously, I am not ranting at you. The quoted sentence triggered me a bit, it seems.)

remotelove , (edited )

Until cheaper and easy-to-use eye trackers are available

Wut? We have been developing that for years. I just did a quick search for code and found this: https://github.com/IvanHalen86/Webcam_EyeTracker_Matlab_Arduino

I almost want update that code for an ESP32 and a couple of cheap cameras I have for them.

remotelove ,

We don't talk about Tony here. Not any more.

Rock is good. You can cook with rock, support and balance things, keep it as a pet, paint faces on it, wedge things that need wedging, use it as a paperweight, possibly shatter it into many knifey bits or sell it to your kid cousin as a magic rock. I think you can also do a few things with ropes and rocks, but I can't remember any of those things. Yes, you can throw rock, but rock likes most to bounce on water when thrown.

remotelove ,

An I beam trolley in your kitchen is awesome for those times you need a place for a chain to hoist the engine out of your car and then move that engine into your living room.

Also, when your floor is lava, you possibly have an escape route now.

remotelove ,

In the kitchen? Food and fun for the whole family, I guess.

remotelove ,

Yeah, I pointed that out.

I am curious though. Do you know what the word "precedent' means? Have you had any exposure to any legal system?

remotelove ,

What others were banned?

remotelove ,

Hardware is not an app and executive orders are not laws that affect everyone in the US.

You really don't understand any of the context around this, do you?

remotelove ,

Oh you read all of that in five minutes, did you?

You couldn't? It's a couple of tables.

Again, you aren't seeing the context of the problem and the entire scope of what is going on. It's the nature of the software that is in question and what it does for the end user. (The last time I checked, Kaspersky didn't make communications software.)

This discussion is pointless. Goodbye.
