    Today I'm in the San Francisco Hall Of Justice room. Don't know if I will get picked as a , but i hope it is for a criminal case with lots of docs to review!

    I spotted a Bail Bond place here, but if I was out on bail, I wouldn't worry about it being revoked. I'd just say, "I'm running for President!" The judge would laugh & throw me in the pokey.

    I saw this & started looking for a mugshot of Marc Shultz. I could not find one. This is a conscious decision by law enforcement & the DOJ. Fine, the DOJ doesn't want to wreck the life of an presumed innocent man. However, they need to do more as a deterrent to others.

    Since it takes time for a conviction, I think we need to see stories, WITH PHOTOS, OF PEOPLE CONVICTED OF THREATS.

    The deal is that local police are the ones that provide them, but not always. And the DOJ, which picked this up, did not use it if it was provided. The media could have gone searching for and requested a mugshot, but they didn't.
    Also this happened in October the arrest months later. The person charged had time to scrub his social media.
    They are giving these people the benefit of the doubt, the DOJ doesn't want to be
    accused of "canceling" a MAGAt.

    It's 2024, the jurors won't be anonymous for long. Dulcé Sloan on The Daily Show said she would've found juror number 2 on Facebook in 5 seconds.

    "This reporter just put her entire LinkedIn page on the screen, & then was like, 'People in the media need to stop doing this.'
    The call is coming from inside the newsroom, girl! That's enough information to track down anybody."

    The court had over a year to prepare for this day. They failed.

    As someone who covers manufactured outrage campaigns for a living, journalists desperately need to learn how to properly cover these campaigns.

    These grafs in NYT don’t give nearly enough context to who Chris Rufo is, or his agenda/track record. Quoting ppl like Rufo as neutral/honest actors is a huge mistake not only bc it launders their abusive, ideologically driven campaigns to mainstream liberals, but also bc it leaves readers less informed abt the motivations behind these attacks.

    Christopher Rufo, a fellow at the conservative Manhattan Institute, called attention to many of Ms. Maher’s posts on X and shared a response from Tesla’s chief executive, Elon Musk, who had responded to one of Ms. Maher’s posts that Mr. Rufo highlighted, saying, “This person is a crazy racist!” “If NPR wants to truly be National Public Radio, it can’t pander to the furthest-left elements in the United States,” Mr. Rufo said in an interview. “To do so, NPR should part ways with Katherine Maher.”

    So I just went for my physical, and it's wrapping up, I'm waiting for my dr. to come back. Suddenly, he comes in all excited, grabs my arm says, come here! We go out to the patio outside his office, he hands me the Special Eclipse 3-D Glasses Thingies, and says, put these on, it'll be black til you look up!

    is threatening judges & nothing is happening to him. He should be treated like other Florida men who threaten judges on social media.
    John Mandia was arrested February 28 2024 for his posts on , one saying "Let's go kill some judges & prosecutors in Palm Beach." He was detained pretrial in Palm Beach County jail on a $450,000 bond.

    Trump is comparing himself to Mandela AND Capone. Instead of spreading those comparisons, let's compare him to Alan McCarthy Jr., who threatened a judge & is now serving 20 years in prison.

    Tonight, 's team released their 37-page recusal motion. That means that Merchan -- who ordered last month that both sides need his express permission before filing further pre-trial motions -- allowed them to do so.

    Trump's justification for a second recusal motion, after his first motion was denied last August, is that there are both changed circumstances and newly discovered evidence.

    Judge Juan Merchan expanded the gag order to include family members of the judge of the court staff of the prosecutor's office. That's wonderful. Donald Trump is laboring under, you know, a hat trick of "Shut up" because there are three gag orders that have been in place over time Judge Chutkan in the DC federal prosecution, judge Engoron in the New York civil fraud trial, and now judge Mercahan in the New York, I don't call it a hush money case. It's the 2016 election interference case that includes hush money payments that were then covered up with false business records. Has it done any good? Has it helped? You just said a minute ago, as Donald Trump is putting his trial on trials, he's putting the criminal justice system to the test. And I think the system is failing. The first sentence from the motion that was filed by district attorney Bragg and it reads, "Defendants dangerous, violent and reprehensible rhetoric fundamentally threatens the integrity of these proceedings and is intended to intimidate witnesses and trial participants alike, including this court." To this old prosecutor the only sentence that makes sense, coming after that assertion is, therefore the people are moving for pretrial detention. I'm not saying, listen, we have four criminal cases across four jurisdictions. There are different rules in every jurisdiction, but the fact that no judge and no prosecutor has stepped up to actually put a stop to Trump's dangerous rhetoric is a real problem

    IOW: Trump's lawyers now argue that not only is Judge Merchan's daughter NOT covered by the gag order, but also that she SHOULD NOT be covered.

    ‘The express terms of the gag order do not apply in the manner claimed by the People, which they seem to acknowledge by suggesting the need to “avoid any doubt.” That the gag order has been publicly interpreted in the way that Pres Trump reads it further supports defense position on order’s meaning." As a result, there was nothing “contumacious” about soc media posts cited in footnote ofPeople’s pre-motion letter, & no “warning]” would be approp. That s partic true i light of fact defense obj to vagueness of proposed gag order in opp to People’s motion. ..Court cannot “direct” Pres Trump to do sthg that gag order does not require. To “clarify or confirm” meaning of order in way People sugg would be to expand it. No expansion is approp on basis of 1-pg letter citing only 2cases, &where P Trump’s response been restricted to sgl page required 10 be submitted the following day while PTrump & defense counsel are preparing for trial. Given sensitvities assoc w prior restraints, if Court wishes to consider such an expansion, complete opp for full adversarial briefing s necessary. Such bricfing would address, constitutional problems attendant with any additional improper restrictions on protected campaign speech—which would implicate First Amendment rights that belong to not only President Trump but also the public, see Def. Opp'n 7- 1—where the family member referenced in the pre-motion letter is actively supporting adversarial campaign speech by Pres Trump's political opponents

    New York Judge Merchan imposed a gag order on Tuesday that prohibits from attacking witnesses, prosecutors and jurors, the latest effort to rein in the former president’s wrathful rhetoric about his legal opponents.

    The judge imposed the order at the request of the Manhattan district attorney’s office, which brought the case against Trump.

    @GottaLaff I read this out load to my 93 year old F-i-L. He has short term memory loss so he asked "Who is the President?" I said, "Joe Biden, and he is doing a GREAT JOB!" I told him what the Republicans wanted to do, cut social security & Medicare & give tax cuts to the rich & corporations, Then I read him Biden's letter.
    I wish I had recorded it to see the big smile on his face. Then I told him the big troubles Trump is in d how he owes 1/2 a billion to New York & 91m to E Jean Carroll!

    While my main computer runs Linux, I have a Windows laptop for certain uses. It infuriates me that Microsoft relentlessly insists on making changes I DO NOT WANT TO MAKE -- not security updates, but mostly stuff that hands over vast amounts of data to Microsoft. The latest "request" -- using a full screen -- has two response options: "Continue" or "Remind me in 4 days". The option I want is "Never" --

    I hear ya. My hard drive stayed pinned at 100% for 10 -20 minutes after a restart. It is a "known issue." I fix it but when they patch Windows 10, it breaks again.
    It has been going on since 2019. I finally had to buy a Solid State Drive so the computer wouldn't slow to a crawl for 20 minutes (BTW, if this happens to you here is a list of a bunch of fixes. Not all work on all computers it's maddening!)
