As one of the convenors of the Medieval Caucasus Network, we've released a joint statement in support of the current protest movement in , which stands against the recent government "foreign agents" legislation.

It's important that the international community be heard on this to increase pressure to repeal this very intrusive bill and protect Georgian civil society and democracy.

You can read the statement here:

The Georgian parliament approved a divisive "foreign influence" bill that sparked weeks of mass protests.

@dw reports: "Critics have called it a threat to domestic freedoms and the country's aspirations to join the European Union. They have also drawn comparisons with comparable rules introduced in Russia in recent years."

What's now happening in is absolutely a replay of what was happening there and in in 2004, in 2009, in 2006 and again in 2020, in Ukraine again in 2014, and so on. The people are demanding their right to be heard, and a putin-backed oligarch is using force to subdue them. We used to call these color revolutions.

Georgia GOP vice chair booted for illegally voting 9 times as a convicted felon. He was convicted for felony check forgery in the past.

Voter fraud aside, the GOP voted him is as vice chair in 2023, the number two spot, knowing he had been convicted of a $38,000 bad check forgery scheme, where he knowingly deposited bad checks into his construction business.

Promised to Fix How Challenges Are Handled.
A New Law Could Make the Problem Worse.

SB 189, which goes into effect in July, will give Georgia residents more time to contest the eligibility of fellow citizens’ inclusion on voter rolls.

The will make it easier to use questionable evidence in those challenges.

But hopefully, the outcome will be ok
