Hackaday.com esamina "le opzioni del tuo client open source nel Fediverso non-Mastodon"

@fediverso

@kimerwinbc You might want to try an alternative UI for Mastodon that is available on this server, . I prefer the ordering of the posts on Phanpy over the regular UI. https://phanpy.hear-me.social

I follow over 700 people but somehow I keep seeing posts of only a handful, and I'm wondering whats up....

compfu ,
@compfu@mograph.social avatar

@Miro_Collas @dilmandila There’s an alternative web frontend for Mastodon called phanpy that has a useful solution. It’s a called „catch up“ and shows you a list of posts from the past x hours that you can sort by number of replies or boosts. I found it useful to read up on posts from other time zones that were written while I was asleep.

Okay, I admit it.

The Catch-Up Feed in is brilliant. Looking at screenshots, I was worried it was going to be super confusing...but, it's honestly a lightning-fast way to catch up on everything.

Absolutely brilliant work.

I am loving Mastodon-Api client
@phanpy now I find myself operating multiple accounts on multiple server-types.

Catch-up mode is really great. So many ways to sort and view the things you missed while asleep or working.

Works just fine with Mastodon and GotoSocial accounts at least. Presumably anything else doing Mastodon API.

But I do wanna run it on a list instead of just the home-feed though 🙏

✨ You can now use 3rd party webUIs like phanpy with Pixelfed!

I think @phanpy is one of the best Mastodon apps.

You want to quote posts? Try Phanpy.

You want a Twitter-like expirience? Try Phanpy.

You want to have GIF support and you're not an Apple user? Try Phanpy.

You want to think less about writing ALT text for attachments? Try Phanpy.

Dev version: https://dev.phanpy.social (has GIF support and generates ALT text)

Stable version: https://phanpy.social (no gif support/alt text generation)

So so glad @phanpy added a toggle for per account notifications! This was one of the last remaining reasons to regularly open Mastodon web.

Social media without quoted posts is like liquor without alcohol. It just doesn’t have the same impact on me. I am still mystified about why anyone strenuously defends their absence. It sounded reactionary the first time I heard the objections, and it’s never gotten better since.

tchambers ,
@tchambers@indieweb.social avatar

@mike @shoq it’s virtually here, in all major 3rd apps, and in for web UX….just waiting for the implementation inside Mastodon itself….They seem to be working on something with more permissions on it, but we will see….

@cheeaun - any chance of adding tool into your UX? Is that crazy talk? cc: @phanpy

After the disruption from the nightly build on Monday, I began experimenting with both @phanpy and @elk, alternate Web interfaces for Mastodon.

While is quite nice with always-available mouse-based back navigation, it doesn't seem to support either multi-column views or auto-refreshing timelines.

So, is a much better fit for my use case. However, it suffers the same limitation sorting notifications as the current unfixed nightly build, i.e. no quick-access filter bar.

And while allows creating a shortcut/pinned column for most views, including an individual List, for some mind-numbing reason Phanpy does NOT allow the Lists view itself (i.e. the view of all your lists) to be a shortcut/pinned column. 🤦‍♀️

Why is this important? Because if you have a shitload of lists like I do, then going back and forth from the master Lists view is something you do A LOT. And you don't want to shortcut/pin that many single List views.

With , liking or boosting posts---as you know, something I might do once or twice a day 🙄---requires multiple clicks since Phanpy's timeline post preview tiles don't have affordances for either task. 🤦‍♀️

You need to right click on a post preview for a context menu or left click to get an enlarged view in order to like or boost. And for boosting you need another click to select between a normal boost and a quote post. This dance is... very inconvenient. 😬

Still, is worth checking out if you're an over-caffeinated Mastodon power user like I am.

I wish the developers well and hope they keep iterating on it. 💖

I've changed from using the regular mastodon website on my desktop to using https://phanpy.social/. looks better and has a cool boost carousel that makes it easier to identify/skip boosts. Also, boosts and followed hashtags have a subtlety different background color. Very nice. It also works well on my phone.

Wow, this looks really cool!! @phanpy has a new feature called that I only found just now. It shows a really nice-looking overview over the last hours in your timeline. You can filter by original posts, boosts, followed hashtags etc.

And it even gives you the most mentioned links in that time period. I'm pretty sure, that this will now become my go-to feature in the morning to get up to speed.
You can try it out in your browser.

Well done, @cheeaun!

What a great Mastodon (web)client! The catch-up function to check what was posted by users in the passed x-hours: 👌💪

Give it a try: https://phanpy.social/
