I dunno… it’s very popular here. The major issue to consider is the also very popular medical racket to get access to the medical stuff.
You have to pay a doctor for a prescription (which is basically some performative bullshit so they get to charge a fee), then you have to pay the state a fee. But you can only have a prescription for 7 months before you have to renew, yet you have to renew your state registration every year— each for a separate fee.
The only ones dumb enough to fall for this bullshit are the ones who absolutely will, and are not gonna be swayed by any articles, no matter how well written or well reasoned.
A risk assessment is a normal part of gambling. You’re just describing games, like the one you’re playing now to rationalize your gambling with your own life by avoiding getting any sort of health insurance.
They are when you bet something on the outcome— ya know, gambling… like how you risk both your financial future and your life when you choose to not have health insurance.
but as a single policy-holder there is a good chance they will pay me more then I pay out making it gambling.
But the risk isn’t health insurance vs gambling. That’s a straw man, as not having health insurance is already gambling, and you’re trying to change the argument because your previous reasoning was shown to be faulty.
Not if you lose your bet that anyone is willing to pay you your desired wage. Then it’s unemployment because you gambled and lost. And even if they do agree, it’s just luck that you won— but it’s still a gamble.
Good think it’s typical mandated by state law. You don’t have a choice when it’s deducted from your paycheck in most cases, and you’re automatically enrolled. Whether you ever take advantage of that is another matter.
However, that’s irrelevant. All you’ve done here is demonstrate poor decision-making skills, and a profound misunderstanding of the concepts of both insurance and gambling.
This person is openly telling you that the only thing stopping them from being a shitty person is some myth about otherworldly punishment after they die.
Which, of course, means they’ll be juuuust as shitty as they believe they can get away with.
It got bought by a group of super fans who specifically formed a company just to buy it and return it to its former glory. They even plan to bring back ONN!
Edit: the company the super fans formed is called Global Tetrahedron Corp, which long-time The Onion fans will recognize as the (now formerly) fictional global megacorp featured in countless past articles.
Donald Trump flirted with the idea of being president for three terms – a clear violation of the US constitution – during a bombastic speech for the National Rifle Association in which he vowed to reverse gun safety measures green-lighted during the Biden administration....
The only time we elected a president more than twice, it was a Socialist, and he was so popular that we had to pass a law after he was elected a fourth time so it didn’t happen again.
People in Lemmy can be odd. I’ve noticed that, once in a while, I may pick up a stan. After a possibly terse exchange, I’ll see all comments/posts have, like, as single downvote for a few days.

because they've been taught that life is a zero-sum game: if anyone else's life improves - even just a little - it must necessarily come at the cost of someone else's life getting worse. this isn't true, of course, but they can't see life as any other way, so the ideas of equality and working together to improve society are antithetical to their worldview. they're to be fought. They have an "every man for himself" philosophy, and it's nothing but selfish, self-centered solipsism.
it also teaches their kid that selfish motivations and material rewards are the only things of value, and that they're worth liying, cheating, and even stealing for-- as long as you don't get caught, because right and wrong are only a matter of the consequences one may personally face. and, even then, it's a cost-benefit analysis. again, the zero-sum game.
The first one, "Space Babies" was alright, but felt too childish. "The Devils Chord" didn't hit for me because they just didn't have the budget for really being able to explore a higher level being of such power....
Kids ruin everything. That kid ruined this episode.
Edit: also, what’s Moffat’s deal with medical treatment/hospitals? Did some nurse or doctor abuse him as a child? I get that some people don’t like going to the doctor or the hospitals, but every time Moffat writes a story that is even somewhat related to the subject, the doctors and nurses or medical personnel are always evil or monsters or something. In the first episodes of his era was Rory working as a nurse in a hospital that turned out to be a Cyberman factory.
Another is the two streams episode where Amy spends 30+ years dodging medical bots trying to inoculate her.
It’s an expected outcome, but that doesn’t make it right.
i didn't say that
I’m really not sure what the appropriate reaction should be.
not to be surprised that it happened, for one. and, while universities do generally, have an atmosphere which support free expression, and many even have somewhat permissive protest policies, they're private property. now, i'm not defending the actions of the universities, but i'm saying that getting arrested for protesting on private property vs while protesting on public property are two different things-- and one isn't nearly as outrageous as the other.
Since you haven’t proven any of those accusation, this seems just another obvious insult and your inability to use the word “charity” correctly.
If you get this uncontrollably nasty just because an internet stranger said something that made you mad, perhaps it’s time to go outside for a break. Perhaps enjoy some nice herbal tea.
Best of luck with your emotional and vocabulary issues.
Well, now, I suppose that depends on the issue. I’ve openly discussed and raised awareness for prostate cancer before and haven’t run into this problem.
Perhaps it’s your approach… or the specific issues you’re raising?
And how’s that? You’re the one who keeps bringing up how “oppressed” men supposedly are while blaming the terrible mean women for it. I sure haven’t seen any of that, and here you are, insisting that the absence of it here is somehow magical proof you’re right, lmao…
Why is it anyone else’s responsibility to keep them informed?
Besides, I see information, ads, etc. (not to mention suggestions from my doctor) about various health issues including prostate health. It’s not someone else’s job to care for you as a grown adult.
