Before jumping to conclusions, wait for facts. And FFS, please don't wish death on people, at least not in my feed. Thank you.
CNN: "Investigators are now fanning out to collect the flyers the unknown man threw into the air, another senior law enforcement official. A CNN team on the ground observed one of the flyers. It said "NYU is a mob front" and had various allegations of wrongdoings against the school"

I loved it. To this day -- 11 years after release -- I will defend the Ouya and sing its praises. To me, the Ouya was not a failure. It did exactly what I wanted and more.
Most people who hate on the Ouya never owned one and simply dogpiled on the hate. They never experienced it for themselves. They're simply retreading the same old talking points they heard from someone else.
In simple terms, here's why the Ouya was awesome: it was a $100 Android box that played indie games, emulated old consoles, and played Netflix.
The old meme about Ouya was that there were no good games for it except TowerFall. But that's poppycock.
The best game for the Ouya wasn't even Towerfall. It was Super Puzzle Platformer Deluxe -- which, by the way, is on my Top 5 list of greatest indie games ever. And I've played many of them in my life.
To this day, I play all these games. They have a home on my Steam library. And I recommend them to everyone.
Beyond the indie games, there were the emulators. I wasn't just able to emulate Atari 2600 and NES games. I was able to do PlayStation and N64 too. Again, not bad for something that cost me $100.
The entertainment options were wonderful. I used it for watching Netflix. I also used my Ouya for subscribing to podcasts, which was wonderful on my home theatre set-up.
Oh yeah, and because the system was Android, if there was an Anrdoid app or game that wasn't available on the storefront, I could always side load an apk.
The closest modern device that comes close to doing what the Ouya did is the Amazon Fire TV Cube. That costs $190. Though it has games on it and lots of entertainment options, there isn't a whole lot on the storefront for emulation.
You know what? I miss my Ouya. And I wish other people were able to experience it.
People worry about what their kids are doing online. They should probably be more worried about what their elderly parents are doing online.
Seriously. When was the last time you heard someone suggested installing (legal) spyware (with consent) on your parents' computer, or adding your number to receive SMS when they make a purchase or send money?
Maybe people already do this. But I never hear anyone talk about it. Let's talk about it.
For the last 4 years, the Tasmanian Museum of Old and New Art has been running an installation called The Ladies Lounge. Only people who identify as ladies are allowed to enter. In the lounge, they can sit in luxury and look at famous artworks by Picasso etc, which are not available elsewhere in the museum. They are served champagne and pampered by male butlers. It was meant as a comment on exclusionary men's clubs (which still exist in Australia and elsewhere).
Some dude got upset about it and sued the gallery for entry at the anti-discrimination tribunal. The artist, Kirsha Kaechele, said she was "absolutely delighted" that the exhibit had been taken to court. “The men are experiencing Ladies Lounge, their experience of rejection is the artwork,” she said.
She then turned the tribunal hearing into part of the art as well, by having a group of women observing the hearing dress like her and mimic her every move. They did not disrupt the hearing, and at the end of proceedings they exited the tribunal to the song Simply Irresistible.
Kaechele argued in her defence the Ladies Lounge was “a response to the lived experience of women forbidden from entering certain spaces throughout history” and promoted equal opportunity.
The tribunal found against the gallery and is ordering them to allow men to enter the exhibit. MONA is removing the exhibit instead.
“#Hamas has told international mediators – which include Qatar and Egypt — it does not have 40 living hostages who match those criteria for release, both sources said. CNN’s record of the conditions of the hostages also suggests there are fewer than 40 living hostages who meet the proposed criteria.”
Come up with an interesting cultural concept for orcs without using terms like "tribal", "savage", or any of the racist tropes that have been applied to indigenous people around the world.
@juergen_hubert I did this for a campaign in the late 2000s. They were more intelligent and civilized than humans, although their "Eternal Empire" was fading. Didn't end up using that setting for whatever reason.
“Now, If I don't get elected, it's gonna be a bloodbath. It's going to be a bloodbath for the country,” predicts Donald Trump at a rally in Dayton, Ohio.
@w7voa I believe he would say this and I'm worried his minions will act on it. So I go to look up more about this speech and it looks like it's in the context of his idiotic narrative that Biden will get rid of Social Security. Destruction of SS is the bloodbath. Fox will say we're taking it out of context and they would be right.
Excuse me while I go shower all the Trumpiness off.
With all the brouhaha about Fulton County, Georgia DA Fani Willis, I love the fact that the only issue is financial. She and special prosecutor Wade having lived in sin doesn't even raise an eyebrow.
As a 70-year-old man, I absolutely love all the progress over the decades that's been made for sexual freedom.
But before you say okay boomer, let me add that y'all just don't realize how lucky you are.
@GottaLaff I'm sure the right has been salivating over the possibility of taking this over and running another social media outlet they don't control into the ground also.
“Republican-led #Kentucky senate voted overwhelmingly to grant the right to collect child support for unborn children, advancing a bill that garnered bipartisan support.
The measure would allow a parent to seek child support up to a year after giving birth to retroactively cover pregnancy expenses. The legislation – Senate Bill 110 – won Senate passage on a 36-2 vote with little discussion to advance to the House. Republicans have supermajorities in both chambers” https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/mar/06/kentucky-senate-child-support-unborn-children
@voron@GottaLaff I don't know, I agree that the father should help pay for pregnancy costs. Or is this just some way for them to justify "fetus are people"?
PM: How long is this going to take you?
Me: No idea, I've never done it before.
PM: Well what's your estimate?
Me: Any estimate would be useless because I've no idea what difficulties I'll encounter.
PM: But I need to put a number on the plan. How about 15 days?
Me: Sure, why not? Let's also estimate I'll grow wings and complete this project while flying.
@nixCraft My workplace is now using our accuracy in estimations for pay raises. Can't be too high or low! Probably my weakest area in my career is estimating, so I'm already picturing how this is going to go for me.
Looking at my feeds, it's hard to believe this. Then again, I thought the same thing about "racist Mastodon" initially. My feed isn't everyone else's experience.
