Idea: given that the A.I. companies are ravenous for training data, and paying top dollar for it - AND film restoration of dacaying old films is vastly underfunded…. A.I. companies should pay to create pristine 4K digital versions of every film or videotape about to be lost to decay in exchange for training rights.

@tomcoates For my server: not a single complaint from any user, just under 1,600 threads users have become visible inside the social graph or our server, and just under 18,000 posts sent through to us from Threads and about 530 of our servers users follow at least one Threads users. Oh, and so far, not one ticket issued by any of users against a Threads user. So far, so good.

@BeAware Hope my boosting this helped! .....But I would note not statistically a random sample of fediverse users... I think to really do this one would literally need to do a true intentionally randomized sample across the whole fedi, and do all the things real world pollsters do to avoid sampling bias...

@atomicpoet Played all of those back in the day. Wish that format of games - graphical adventure, story based games - made a comeback. Was once a chart topping genre. I worked for a while at Activision, which got a major start buying InfoComm, which owned Zork, HitchHickers Guide to the Galaxy and other REALLY old school text based adventure games.

Those worried Threads might scrape the Fedi for AI training data should rest assured that EVERY bit of the public Fedi is ALREADY being scraped and used by all the AI players. Because it is free and public, compared to this:

Two weeks ago my father passed away. Last week we held a memorial service. And today I published the eulogy that I delivered: https://rzen.net/doug/

It was hard finding all the right ways to capture his legacy. There were so many good memories that felt just out of reach, but I managed to work them into both his obituary and eulogy. I'm grateful, too, that he still had so many admirable qualities to highlight despite a sad couple decades lost to alcoholism.
