Three good things for today:

  • patio seating at our favorite sushi restaurant to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary (how can this be, seems like only yesterday!)

  • no buds on my daylily yet but it seems to be growing talk and strong (I’m very emotionally invested)

  • got a mix-up straightened out with a credit card company without any hassle (shocking!)

@Dawilson999 @GottaLaff I’ll not sure if you’re intentionally trying to be argumentative or what. Laffy said Hicks still supports him/his policies. That could be accurate or it might not be. You responded by demanding an example of perjury. That would be relevant if Hicks was asked on the stand if she still supports him (she wasn’t). Laffy’s inference about her character has nothing to do with whether Hicks lied under oath, and I don’t understand your conflating them.

@GottaLaff Hopefully this doesn’t come across as a Debbie Downer but I feel very leery about this. I’ve heard rumors that AZ repubs plan to replace it with an equally restrictive fetal personhood law. Repealing was probably aimed at regaining support for reelection. I worry that folks will see repeal as a win, let their guard down, and turn their attention (and advocacy) elsewhere. 😬

I just signed up to write to voters for the first time! Registration just opened up to write postcards for elections in 11 states, which is good timing because my chest feels tight with election dread today.

Why are so many protestors wearing masks?

Yes it's to protect against facial recognition and doxxing, but it's also to keep communities safe from COVID.

As an organizer puts it: "we deny the Biden administration’s narrative about COVID — that it’s no longer a big deal."

But that gradual return to barefaced life never reached left-leaning protests, where face masks are widely used and encouraged. Part of the reason, say organizers, remains an attempt to make a point about exposure to COVID-19 and other health risks, which some in the left-wing protest movements believe remain dire. And part is the threat of a different kind of exposure — from being captured by facial recognition technology or becoming doxxed (their personal information being shared online) by counter-protesters. “To us, the optics are communicating that we deny the Biden administration’s narrative about COVID — that it’s no longer a big deal,” said Olan Mijana, a spokesman for the March on DNC 2024 coalition. “It’s about collective safety, and it’s also about connecting this COVID neglect to the very issues that we’re marching on the DNC for.”

    @scottytrees @YusufToropov Yes. We’ve tried the mature “focus on policy positions” approach. Thing is, he’s not a mature person. He’s a narcissistic psychopath. His ego = his campaign, and hurting his ego is the only way to hurt his campaign. He can’t handle it, and we need his breakdown to happen before he gets into the WH. Because once he’s there, he will literally have the ability to destroy the world and he won’t hesitate to use it.

    I bought a lap pillow recently. It’s technically a nursing pillow for babies, but I use it to elevate my needlepoint closer to my face. However, my cats are convinced I bought it for them, and I don’t have the heart to disappoint them…

    Henry especially loves “tummy time” on the baby pillow.
