I just finished reading Batman - The Long Halloween. It is without a doubt a masterpiece. I’ve said it here before, but the duo Jeoh Loeb and Tim Sale is very very good. Sale’s drawings are very expressive and authorial. I was quite shocked by the plot twist on the last page, it was impressive. I recommend reading.

. came to from a career in the CIA - not exactly the typical background - and all his work I've read seems haunted by the pointlessness of the violence in Afghanistan, rather than the redemptive / satisfying violence more typical of the superhero genre. This is the weakest work of his I've read, with the Ancient Greek allusions really not landing, but the formal play with the timeline is very nice. @bookstodon

I just started reading Batman - The Long Halloween, with the script by Jeph Loeb, art by Tim Sale and colors by Greg Wright. I imagine it may not have pleased everyone, but Sale’s art and Wright’s colors are phenomenal.

Corporate crime is notoriously underpoliced and underprosecuted. Mostly, that's because we just choose not to do anything about it. American corporations commit crimes at 20X the rate of real humans, and their crimes are far worse than any crime committed by a human, but they are almost never prosecuted:

@patrickgillam @pluralistic I read an idea once in which caught a crooked cop and strung him up to be taken away by the police just like he does with any other criminal and it turned the cops against him and he had to go back to being a true vigilante. That pissed him off so he started focusing on corruption which ruffled every feather. It also resulted in making Gotham a better place much more than capturing any two bit thugs could have.

That’s a Batman I’d like to see.

I just finished reading Batman - The Refurn of the Dark Knight, by Frank Miller, Klaus Janson and Lynn Varley. I really like this edition, it’s an outstanding discussion. It seems that, as always, the world is heading for cycles of entropy because of the traps we create ourselves. Unfortunately, we don’t have a Batman in real life to fix all the crappy things we did to ourselves.

I’ve had this game for several years, but now that I’m looking at it carefully. I just finished Chapter I and I can say that it is a very engaging story. For those who are a fan of Batman Year One, this game is for you.

Despite the problems it went through, Telltale has always known how to make narrative games of exceptional quality. It’s no different here.

@comics The story is so engaging that I couldn’t turn off the game and I decided to keep playing a little bit more. I’ve finished Chapter 2 now. What a fantastic game! What a twist!

"Joker: Folie à Deux," Todd Phillips' sequel to his 2019 movie will not be out until October this year, but GQ says you can watch a better version today. "The People's Joker" is a crowdsourced DIY project from director-cowriter-star Vera Drew about her experiences as a trans woman in comedy, and it was released last week. Here's Jesse Hassenger's breakdown of the movie, which he says, "feels like a more sincere, fully-felt act of adaptation than several 'real' treatments of these characters."

Holy "Choose-Your-Own-Adventure" Batman❗

Had no idea this "turn-to-page" comic book existed for BATMAN: ARKHAM ORIGINS.

Batman Night Cries (1987) is such a grim, complex and outstanding graphic novel that, after reading it, I’ve had to read it again. Such an amazing work by Archie Goodwin and Scott Hampton.

April 4. Another day in Commissioner Gordon’s old-new-life in the decrepit and corrupt Gotham City. But that will change, there is a hope, a light at the end of the tunnel. And it has bat wings.

Oh wow! I still have not seen (I am a guy, who also enjoys action movies), but I hear the movie is awesome (based upon reviews by friends & family).

I can see why Barbie beats though: one seems like a happy movie in depressing times, while the other was a depressing movie in…depressing times. 😂

Remember that iconic scene in Batman 2 when Catwoman uses a whip to knock the heads off a series of mannequins? That wasn't a stunt woman it was Michelle Pfeiffer. It didn't use any effects she really knocked them off with the whip. She did it in one take too. I had heard the story before but never knew there was footage of it. Brilliant work!
Michelle Pfeiffer whipped the heads off those four mannequins applause from the Batman Returns crew!
