I like my #Mastodon home feed more than the best time I've ever had on #Twitter. Twitter was full of juicy drama but the algorithm would also take me down a recommendation vortex until it was like my feed was nothing but a single type of content.

But over here my home feed is a healthy mix of Southeast Asians, 80s punk and postpunk, people posting in different languages, shitposts, beautifully creepy plant photos, kpop, people giving updates on personal projects and other neat stuff!

So far 99% of my #lemmy use has been spamming the Alternative Nation community with #postpunk songs.

TBH I like the #Fediverse for posting #music. On Twitter only THE BAND would react and RT to their followers, which is great but the point is to proselytize to people who are not already listening to the band!

Over here I am getting zero social media reacts by my favourite artists but I hope they're getting more listeners!

#Chinese siopao / baozi is the original hot pocket. It's in the name in #Hokkien at least.

Sio = hot, pao = wrap. The pao is the same pao in angpao (red wrap) where people put cash in red envelopes as gifts for birthdays, New Years, and so on.

I just thought about it when I was looking at 7-11 siopaos 😂 Do other SE Asian countries have 7-11 siopaos too?

Twitter interactions are mostly intra-fandom and Discord/Reddit really drill down on their niches. I just want one place to get all my genres.

Plus as a person who listens to a lot of #postpunk / #darkwave, gothy spaces online devolve to "that's not #goth, let's define goth for the nth time" or people posting fits instead of music 💀

Fun fact, the host is one of the early English fan translators of the comic and one of the guests is the dude who put together the DVD release.

TIL the original #comic is set in #Brazil and NOT #Argentina, which blows my mind considering I've written over 40 k words in #AO3 for the fandom. I suppose that's what I get for not reading the comic!
