A butterfly with black and yellow patterned wings perched on a yellow thistle flower with thistles leaves, buds and other foliage in the background. The butterfly is facing left and has its proboscis poking inside the top spines of the flower. The thistle flower is a green ball of spines with small spiny arugula-like leaves wrapped around the bud. On top of the green ball are numerous yellow spikes.

The thorax is very fuzzy and yellow, and the abdomen is black and fuzzy. Its wings are clear but with black veins. And the photo they’re rather blurry because they beat very fast. In this pic, the moth has pulled away and its proboscis is hanging out in front.

    A zebra swallowtail butterfly on leafy green blackberry brambles full of white buds and white flowers. This pic is taken more towards its side and is facing top left. The wings are mostly open and the left wing is pointed to the camera.

    A gloriously beautiful fly that looks a bit like a bee on white flowers with green foliage in the background. The direction of the photo is looking down on the fly’s head. The eyes are an opaque matte black and look like a bikini top on its head. The rest of the head is sunflower yellow with a long black stripe in the center. It has a black tongue sticking into the flower. The thorax is mostly black with two pairs of short yellow stripes. Its two wings are resting closed together and are translucent reddish brown. The legs are long, thin and reddish towards the tarsi and yellow near the abdomen. The flowers are closely packed together on a stem with thin white petals looking like they’re barely hanging on to the green star-shaped cup center.

The thorax is mostly black with yellow stripes going in the opposite direction. Its two wings are resting closed together and are translucent reddish brown. The legs are long, thin and reddish towards the tarsi and yellow near the abdomen. The flowers are clustered very close together on a stalk and have thin white petals that seem haphazardly arranged, green stamens, long thin filaments and yellow anthers. There are small leaflets poking out from under the flower cluster.

    A bumblebee on pink and white bell-shaped flowers with a blurred green background. They are clustered on a stalk in bunches with the heaviest cluster in focus on the top left to center. The bee is hanging upside down at the base of one ripe whitish flower so that you only see its fuzzy, yellow, thorax, and black head and antennae sticking out on either side with its prickly legs cling to the flowe. The immature unopened flowers are a bright pink and look like deflated balloons. The whitish ones are more puffed out and have faded shades of pink. The lighting is late afternoon sun and it casts a yellow light that makes the flowers glow with color.

    Enigmogramma basigera, Pink washed looper moth

    Found this fren on calamansi lime. Thought it was a cabbage white but it was actually eating the lime leaves. INaturalist says it’s the above and articles say its host plant is Lobelia.

    The pot was next to Lobelias before the seasonal plant migration. It looks well-fed and ready to cocoon so I guess we’ll see if it survived on citrus. @plants

The abdomen appears plumpish so has likely fed recently. The background has more green leaves out of focus.

    I got ants in my plants.

    Ants aerate the soil, allowing nutrients to reach roots as well as decomposing matter and adding their own nutrients to the soil.

    Video was taken from up-potting one of my favorite tropical fruit shrubs. To foster ant mutuals, don’t use pesticides.

    Video image shows the side of an unpotted plant’s root system. The white-ish tan roots reach around the side of the smooth clump of dirt and there is a crack in the dirt going horizontally. Reddish brown ants are going in and out of the crack at a fast pace.

    A cluster of blackberry flowers. The bottom right flower has gloriously green-gold-copper iridescent little bees surrounding the ovules forming a circle head to butt in the center. Another green iridescent bee is peering over a right flower petal curiously. Blackberry flowers are 6 white ovary petals with a green-yellow fuzzy center with an explosion of white filaments with tiny brown anthers. The flower’s anthers with the bees are still whitish yellow and clustered in the center of the flower. Behind the flowers are green blackberry leaves.

    Maypops are starting to turn bright yellow for the fall. 🍂

    A large mostly black wasp sits on a bright yellow folded leaf. The weight of the insect is making the leaf curl. The wasp has yellow bands on its abdomen and has hooked antennae like a shepherd’s crook. Its wings are translucent amber fading to black at the tips. Its legs are black to translucent amber towards the tarsii. Below the insect are more bright yellow leaves and behind it are light green leaves.

    A cream and soft brown colored butterfly sitting on a yellow flower, sipping up nectar with its long proboscis. It is in profile hanging down facing right. Its large eyes are dark brown. The cream color is from wavy stripes along its wings that give it appearance of looking like lace. It is a cute butterfly. The flower is a light orange, yellowish aster, but most of the flower petals have fallen off and mostly what you see is the yellow stigma with brown stripes. The flower is an a cluster of three on a stem.  The background is faded green from lots of leaves and stems.

    Probably an isodontia mexicana that is spreading throughout Europe. There were lots of them on our mint plants but since those stopped blooming, I haven’t seen them again. So these are my best shots so far.
