A large portion of most rich peoples investment portfolios is commercial real estate.

So if remote work takes off then offices devalue and their invest profiles diminish. That's why all the big business have colluded to force RTO, even if it would ostensibly cost their business more to do so. The execs personal savings are more important.

The dudes trying to defend themselves feel personally attacked, because telling someone that the average woman thinks they're more dangerous than a bear feels both unfair and discriminatory.

I'm not a man and not trying to defend myself. I just think the bear aren't being reasonable (when taken literally and not as a thought provoking comment)

Now divide those stats by how often people encounter bears, vs how often people encounter a man they don't know.

And then when you've done that you should also factor in the fact that the majority of sexual assaults and rape are commit by someone the victim knows, and is often their spouse/partner.

So no, the wild animal is not the better choice, no matter how smug you want to be about it.

So I suggest you stop trying to condescendingly explain sexual assault to a woman that has been a victim of sexual assault, restart and try again.

This is an incredibly common thought among the reactionary right and I think it literally boils down to them thinking about everything like this like its a game or a sport, so when you support a side like palestine they can only comprehend that you think Palestine is a great country and you love everything about it and fully support all the people there and everything they do. [Serious] Why do so many people seem to hate veganism?

Seen a lot of posts on Lemmy with vegan-adjacent sentiments but the comments are typically very critical of vegan ideas, even when they don't come from vegans themselves. Why is this topic in particular so polarising on the internet? Especially since unlike politics for example, it seems like people don't really get upset by it...

Being vegan or vegetarian means that you have to spend more money in the store to buy food

no it doesnt? Im 1,000% willing to bet youve never been vegan before. Plant based diets are way cheaper, just go to your local store and look at eh price for a kilo of carrots or potatoes vs a a kilo of chicken.

Another point is that a healthy and varied diet using only vegan or vegetarian food doesn’t come so natural, so you have to research this more, which means you have to spend time, which again is a commodity.

Yeah. I think 90% of these guys complaining about militant vegans have never actually come across one. But have heard sotries about them from other people or the news and just assimilated that as part of their own experience. Much in the same way racists here stories about how bad immigrrants are from newpapers and use that to form their opinions.

There's also another side to this where you're too passive. Since girls, and especially more introverted girls, will expect the man to be the driving force of the relationship, if you don't express interest and eventually shoot your shot, then even if she was interested in you she will just move on to someone else.

So you really have to be in touch with social queues in order to strike a balance between too pushy and too passive, which for groups that massively overprepresent the autistic and otherwise socially awkward is asking a lot.

Mostly attention issues. She had her big hit, was very famous then that started to fade so tried a dozen different things to stay in the lienlight from bad sequels to bad prequels to publishing bad stories under a fake name, but none if it got her enough attention. So she did what basically every other washed up celebrity does and just be controversial to get attention.

And also I think part of it is that rich, steisght white women, are very privileged but being a woman gives them 1 point in the oppression Olympics so they think their opinions on these issues matters more. Which is why almost all the most outspoken term are middle class strisght white women.

Depends what the great circle function does. But chances are it gives you the arc length between the two points, which would give you the shortest distsnce between them on the surface of the earth.

If you wanted the distance through the earth you would need to work put the central angle of that arc, then use that to work out the remaining edge of the triangle formed between the two cities and the centre of the earth.
