I was going to make a post on unpopular opinions saying comic sans is not as bad as people make it out to be and can be useful in some cases since it is easier to read. But decided not to because I wasnt sure kbin/lemmy felt about it.
If you use it while trying to write a paper, you can actually write faster/more easily, so I tried it out myself, switched the font, and it actually did help. I do switch the font back to something more professional if I'm sharing what I wrote, though.
This is gonna sound outdated as hell, but I handwrite one major plot point or scenes on an index card and then put them in the order I want the outline to proceed in. I change the order of the cards if I feel like it or if a scene went some different direction than I originally intended while I was writing it. I only do this while writing fiction.
Mine is nostalgia. That's literally my copium drug and it really is strong some days. It's not that I sit here everyday and never move on to newer things, I do sometimes embrace new things and realize there's more out there than what I have....
A few years ago Brachs candy I think it was made Thanksgiving dinner flavored Candy Corn. They had turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, greenbean, apple pie, and gravy candy corns mixed in a bag. The cranberry apple pie were great but the stuffing tasted like vomit. Everything else was just meh. I never bought a bag again.
Would this include airplanes flying into NC? Like, if I have a layover in Charlotte and I'm only gonna be at the airport a few hours, I can't wear a mask on the plane to Charlotte, or at the Charlotte airport? I know planes are owned by the airlines so they're not "public", but what about inside an airport?
I'm working on a side project studying variations in human facial features. It's been helpful to study celebrity faces because it's easy to find numerous reference photos. I've actually got a fairly good range of weird looking white men, turns out Hollywood is pretty flush with those, but it's been harder to find unique looking...
I work with a person that went presented with a problem, works through it and arrives at the wrong solution. When I have them show me the steps they took, it seems like they interpret things incorrectly. This isn't a language barrier, and it's not like they aren't reading what someone wrote....
Is he maybe just a really literal person and took the forwarded email with instructions "send THIS to them" as "send this email to them", but then he knows his work responsibility is to send the product, hence why he sent both the product and the email?
Do you have an SOP or exact steps to follow written down in a very clear, concise manner (yes, even something as simple as "after employee A sends the email, employee A will notify employee B to send out the product by forwarding the customer email to employee B"; I'm talking reaaaallly literal steps here)?
Can you give other examples of times he's messed up in a similar way?
Does he have poor reading comprehension? ADHD?
I train employees a lot in my current job and jobs prior and I've learned that everyone interprets things differently and learns at their own pace. Most times you can adapt to their style, but sometimes people are just mentally out to lunch 24/7 and not fit for the job.
It sounds like this person isn't remembering the procedures then, even when you've explained it to them and they've already done the task before (Or they're just a lazy fuck that doesn't care one way or the other and maybe never will). There is no "fixing" the individual, you need to correct their behavior while also giving them plenty of opportunity to get it right and with all the tools and guides they need readily available. How long have they been working in that position? Maybe they just need more time.
As others have stated, if the directions aren't already in writing, you should either write them down for the employee or, better yet, make the employee write them down, then review it for accuracy. This should in theory help them commit the process to memory, plus now they have their own guide to refer to.
Another bonus (for you, not the employee) of getting the process in writing is that if/when this person messes up again, now you have something to point back to and say "Remember when we went over this and you wrote it down and I verified that your notes were correct? Did you follow those notes this time? If yes, why did (mess up) happen anyway? If no, why didn't you follow the notes?" Make this person explain themselves, don't just sit there and be mad and say nothing to them.
This could also be a case of weaponized incompetence/ learned helplessness. If they fuck up a lot, you stop giving them work, but they're still there getting paid anyway, right? Now you're just paying them to either stand around or do menial tasks and not what you actually hired them for.
Start documenting their fuck ups, and tell them you're doing so. You're better off having a paper trail to point to when you have to fire them.

For some reason I've just never liked Spider-Man. He comes off as a whiney, ignorant child that never seems to grow up or mature despite everything he goes through. I love a good coming of age story, but he just never seems to become an adult.
From a woman who's father failed in many ways: Be present, be willing to listen, and actually give a damn. My father wasn't any of those things when I was growing up, he just sorta came and went as he pleased and if he cared, he sure didn't show it. I went NC with him from my teens until my 30s, and we now have a semi-decent relationship, but man, I will be forever jealous of those "Daddy's girl" women who adore and admire their fathers and their fathers love them so much everyone can tell.
Right? The problem is, sometimes I'm like, "Wow, do I drink too much" but then I'm like "Naaah, I drink way less than (insert the name of an alcoholic you personally know here)", but sometimes it still feels like I drink too much anyway?
I was talking to a female friend and young Arnold Schwarzenegger came up on conversation. I pulled up a picture of him and spent a long time looking at it. Then said "I am trying to decide if he is attractive....
Personally, I do not find men (or women) that are as built as that photo of Arnold attractive. I do like nicely-toned arms though, I am definitely an "arms" chick, as in, I find muscular arms in particular attractive. But there's definitely a point where if the muscles are too big, it starts to be less appealing.
I'm definitely on the hate apes train, Chimpanzees in particular. They're not cute and are freakishly strong and I think it's insane some people keep them as pets.
Private school, Nursery through 8th grade was basic regular clothes, but you weren't allowed to have any pictures or words on your clothing, only patterns and solid colors. No sports jerseys, no Nike swoosh, etc. Also no dyed hair. 9th - 12th grades we could wear whatever we wanted and dye our hair.
I think for me, the internet would have to be totally eclipsed by the enshittification process, for me to revise how I use it and what for. I've been online for 28 years now and I am beginning to slow down more and more as time goes on. I used to have been a community seeker, an explorer and a very curious person....
It's Autumn in the Southern hemisphere (Spring time in the Northern hemisphere), and I get fascinated by a lamp post near me that some birds have been using as a hand-me-down for a decade now.
One of my coworkers left his car parked in his driveway for so long that a pigeon made a nest between the windshield and the windshield wiper, just right in that little space where it comes together with the hood.
Pre-COVID, myself and my bf at the time went to an anime convention outside of Chicago. His grandma lived in St. Louis, so we decided to take the train from Chicago to St. Louis because it was cheaper than flying (we lived in CO at the time and had flown to Chicago for the convention).
Neither of us had ever been on an Amtrak train, so we had no idea how it all worked, that seats weren't assigned, that there were different prices on different cars, etc, we'd just gotten 2 of the cheapest tickets and assumed we'd have a seat.
Well, there were no seats by the time we boarded. People had spread their shit out even though they were traveling alone, and refused to move it even when we asked. So we said fuck it, let's see if there's room in the next car up on the line.
We get to the next car and it's completely empty except for 3 kids, the oldest one was maybe 12. We're like cool, we'll just sit in here.
A full hour goes by and an AmTrak employee comes by to collect tickets. We hand them over and she says, and I quote: "You can't sit here, this car doesn't go to St. Louis".
Immediately in my head I'm like, how the fuck can this car "not go to St. Louis" when we boarded in the car BEHIND IT and THAT car IS going to St. Louis?? Is this the fucking Hogwarts train??? Did the cars uncouple and reattach to a separate engine car in the 1 hour that's passed and we didn't realize it??? So I ask her what she even means by that, and explain that there's no room in the car behind us so we came to this one because no one would move, and all she kept saying is that the car we were in didn't go to St. Louis, and we had to go back to the other car now.
Luckily, she came with us into the first car and forced a single person to go sit with another single traveler, which was very nice of her, so me and the bf got to sit together, but the seat was uncomfortable as hell (springs might as well have been up your ass), and the rest of the ride sucked because of it.
Maybe the fancy cars with the nicer seats and panoramic view windows are great, but I don't give a fuck. Never again.
Mine was our CRT TV. I would rapidly push the power button on and off because I thought the picture coming and going looked cool but eventually it fell inside of the TV. I think I later stuck a magnet on the TV....
They used to make these things called "Shrinky-Dinks", which were sheets of thick plastic that you would color with pencils, then cut them out and stick them in the oven and they would shrink down to a smaller size.
Well one day when I was 3, I decided I could do this by myself, except that I put them in the toaster oven on the grate on like 400 degrees. Of course that shit melted through the grate and onto the heating element inside the toaster oven. Thankfully my parents noticed the smell before a fire started. Not sure how much a toaster oven cost in the '80s, but they had to get a new one one.
My goldendoodle puppy doesn't ever want to come back inside. I told my beagle "go get your sister" as I tried rounding up the puppy. Now when I say "go get your sister" the beagle runs to the puppy and baits her into chasing him into the house.
I have yelled "Hey!" so many times at so many pets over the years (dogs and cats) when I caught them messing around with something they shouldn't be that they all started to think "Hey" was their name.
I know we're not here for this, but her dress is awesome.
That being said, after reading the article, I'm not surprised she was denied her visa when she's investigating something the Indian government clearly doesn't want the public to know about. I hope she gets to return some day and complete what she started.

I'm thinking the same regarding Linux, but I dunno shit about it and while I'm not totally computer illiterate, switching operating systems like that is very intimidating to me.
I did see a guy beat what was supposedly a baby camel spider with a pushbroom, and it didn't die, so he grabbed a foot locker and dropped it on top of it, and that definitely killed it.
STAY AWAY from Generali travel insurance. I just went through hell with them filing a claim. Customer service is non-existent, their phone number sends you in circles and you can never speak to an actual person, their website is slow and broken most of the time. You're better off paying extra on tickets that are fully refundable instead of paying for travel insurance if your only option is to go through Generali.
My mom us a retired Episcopalian priest. She said there are gluten-free wafers you can get if someone in the congregation needs them. She also said that it doesn't have to be a wafer, one of her priest buddies once consecrated a pancake to make a point that it doesn't matter what's being consecrated, it's all God's creation.
Note: I am not religious and do not hold these beliefs myself
