The GOP has been fighting a war against our educational system for about 70+ years. Add to that the fact that most of these people have been voting R for generations, so it's basically like a religion to them.

There's also the news networks that feed them the bullshit they've been brainwashed into wanting to believe.

Add it all together and you get yourself a cult.

pearsaltchocolatebar ,

It can if set up right. It's just not set up right.

I would love for potential politicians to be completely anonymous. You get their political platform, their voting history, and that's it. The candidates would be randomly selected from a database of people with the necessary qualifications to hold office, so no one can really buy their way in.

I prefer that he gets locked in syndrome for a few years. A taste of hell before he goes to the real one.

The Targeting of Infrastructure by America’s Violent Far-Right ( ctc.westpoint.edu )

The U.S. government has taken notice of far-right extremists’ renewed interest in targeting critical infrastructure, releasing numerous bulletins and warnings to educate the public and communicate transparently about the nature of the threat. According to CNN reporting, in late April 2023, a Department of Homeland Security...

pearsaltchocolatebar ,

Yeah, this is making me consider getting my guns from my mom's farm.

pearsaltchocolatebar ,

I'm shocked it hasn't already happened.

pearsaltchocolatebar ,

I mean, it's a step in the right direction. Don't let perfect stand in the way of good.

pearsaltchocolatebar ,

I have doubts he will do any time.

pearsaltchocolatebar ,

I mean, SS protection should be pretty easy if he's locked in an 8x10 cell.

pearsaltchocolatebar ,

And a stacked supreme court in his favor

I also miss all of the clear cases on electronics from the same time period.

John Mark Dougan, former marine and police officer, now living in Russia to evade criminal charges ( sh.itjust.works )

Dougan, a former Marine and police officer, fled his home in Florida in 2016 to evade criminal charges related to a massive doxxing campaign he was accused of launching against public officials and was given asylum by the Russian government. Most recently, Dougan has posed as a journalist in Ukraine’s Donbas region, testifying...

pearsaltchocolatebar ,

He's not just living in Russia, he's actively working directly for the Russian disinformation machine.

pearsaltchocolatebar ,

Found the American (or Liberian or Myanma person)

pearsaltchocolatebar ,

Sometimes it does. It just depends on the programming.

pearsaltchocolatebar ,

It's pretty simple to make. I built one for my last job to make it look like I was working.

pearsaltchocolatebar ,

To me it looks like the paint is old and flaking off.

pearsaltchocolatebar ,

I hope the Ukraine goes ahead and just takes over Russia.

We're Watching Facebook Die ( www.wheresyoured.at )

In the first quarter of 2024, Meta made $36.45 billion dollars - $12.37 billion dollars of which was pure profit. Though the company no longer reports daily active users, it now uses another metric: “family daily active people.” This number refers to “registered and logged-in users of one or more of Facebook’s Family...

Dividends aren't really the goal for most investors. It's stock prices they care about.

pearsaltchocolatebar ,

What? The stock price is based on the valuation of the company, not future dividends. Many stocks don't pay dividends at all, or do so rarely.

Similarly, a home's price is the market value of the home, not how much the rent/mortgage payments would be.

pearsaltchocolatebar ,

I mean, that logic got Brock Allen Turner, the rapist who now goes by Allen Turner, off the hook. I guess it's worth a shot.

pearsaltchocolatebar ,

All you need is a VHS player and a $15 video capture card to do it yourself.

pearsaltchocolatebar ,

It can be. There's a saying that intent is 9/10 of the law.

But, they definitely intended to fuck people over, so that's a moot point.

pearsaltchocolatebar ,

No, it's intent.

pearsaltchocolatebar ,

I stand corrected

pearsaltchocolatebar ,

It also violates the interstate commerce clause of the constitution, but good luck getting the SC to rule against it.

pearsaltchocolatebar ,

Are you seriously suggesting that Biden is almost as bad as Trump?

Why is Nikki Haley scrawling genocidal messages on Israeli bombs? | Moustafa Bayoumi ( www.theguardian.com )

...on Tuesday, the former Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley was all over social media for a picture taken of her during a visit to Israel. In the picture, Haley – the one Republican who had been frequently lauded for her smarts on foreign policy – is seen squatting down in front of a row of Israeli artillery...

pearsaltchocolatebar ,

Our government hasn't cared about the will of the people in a very long time (if ever).

pearsaltchocolatebar ,

Using the word 'enough' suggests they have some level of honor or integrity.

pearsaltchocolatebar ,

Yeah, each broiler house can hold ~20-50k chickens (depending on size). A few million chickens is a pretty large operation. Most farms around here have about 20 houses max.

pearsaltchocolatebar ,

I think they meant their wife has issues keeping friends

pearsaltchocolatebar ,

It's been 3 years since I quit problem drinking, but I don't think I ever thought about not finishing a beer.

pearsaltchocolatebar ,

Proof read it backwards, one sentence at a time. When you read it forwards, your brain already knows what should be there, so it skips over a lot.

Also, just use a word processor to write it, and let it do the grunt work of spelling and grammar checking for you.

pearsaltchocolatebar ,

You should be scrubbing before you rinse, not both together.

pearsaltchocolatebar ,

I've actually encountered a properly designed one once in my life. The sensor was in the faucet spout instead of in the base.

pearsaltchocolatebar ,

The sensors can be calibrated so only objects within a certain range set it off.

pearsaltchocolatebar ,

It shouldn't take 2 minutes to rinse soap off of your hands. It takes me like 5 second.

How much soap are you using?

pearsaltchocolatebar ,

That's a feature, not a bug. The far right has been attacking our educational system since Reagan, if not before.

They can't exist with a well educated populace.

pearsaltchocolatebar ,

My SO frequently includes me in conversations that they've already started in their head, and I have to remind them that I have zero context for what they just said.

pearsaltchocolatebar ,

You have that backwards. Congress is the one who is responsible for the weapons sales.

Also, we're not giving Israel weapons. They purchase them from us.

pearsaltchocolatebar ,

Biden tried to delay the last shipment as long as he could.

pearsaltchocolatebar ,

They don't have to pass a bill to do that. Biden can't block sales over a certain amount, which is why he could only delay the most recent one.

pearsaltchocolatebar ,

Same with Louisiana. There were several times when it looked like it was raining, but it was just so humid water was condensing into droplets.

pearsaltchocolatebar ,

No, there wasn't any fog. It seemed like it was drizzling, but it wasn't
