@Merlo51 tbh, Separation of Church and State is a huge lie. I just want the catholic church to be wiped out here. I hope the divorce bill will pass as a law next year or within a few years..

> So that guy who may be abusive is not treated at all, he will be looking for another girl who is going to be his punching bag later on.
There's no need to explain that, it's very plain.
/facepalm
EDIT: just to clarify, it's directed to that priest and the RCC. ^_~
For COVID cautious folks in the #philippines , am putting up this list of dentists (some are former students) who still practice Covid mitigation like the use of N95s and air filters. Am including their fields of specialty as well. Please feel free to add to the list….
Trending in the #Philippines : Most confusing mall.
a. SM North / SM West
b. Trinoma
c. Alabang Town Center (a.k.a. ATC)
d. Glorietta
e. Robinson's Galleria (a.k.a. Galle)
f. Robinson's Place Manila/Ermita
Within my own circles, we agree that the most confusing are Trinoma > ATC > Robinson's Galleria > Robinson's Place Manila, in that order.
SM Malls, at least those they designed directly (not bought), are mostly generic. (Note: SM Mall of Asia, still the largest mall in the Philippines & 6th in the world, is currently confusing because of the major on-going overhaul.)
Ironically, Ayala-owned malls are generally confusing, with the exception of Glorietta (the layout is like a spiderweb). Trinoma and ATC are both Ayala-owned.
How about you? What do you think is the most confusing mall(s) for you?
@royal Ooh! Now that you mentioned it, there was a mall somewhere in Central Luzon with a similar layout that was also confusing even though it was logical. I can't remember what mall it was, I think I only visited it like 4 times so far.
Maybe it was because everything looks very identical and large, I eventually lose myself in my mind map/layout. ^^;;
Yes, I was there earlier at the Korean Cultural Center. This is proof of it. :P
The mini museum exhibit will run until 2024-06-29, so visit it while it is still there. It's simple but the experience is amazing. It puts to shame the larger museums and and well-funded exhibits. (seriously)
"The #Philippines is exploring aerial supply missions to Filipino troops at #AyunginShoal in the West Philippine Sea, a top security official said on Tuesday. National Security Council Assistant Director General Jonathan Malaya said there will be adjustments to the government's resupply efforts to troops stationed at BRP Sierra Madre, the grounded warship that serves as the country's outpost in the West Philippine Sea"
@luthien1126 Di ko alam kung nasanay nalang ako but I'm able to walk outside now without feeling like I'm going to pass out. It's still extremely hot but I feel like the humidity is getting a little bit better.
@moonwalkerwiz I still can't bear going outside when the sun is so high up, but yes, I feel like yesterday and the other day was a teeny weeny bit better.
I've been planning my first solo travel/workation this year and I can't decide where to go this August. La Union, Zambales, or Baler?
La Union is at the top of my list but since it's a workation and as an introvert, I won't be into parties and large crowds. I want a more peaceful vibe. I wonder which among those three is better for digital nomading?
@coffeewithbren I don't know what's the situation in Baler today, but back in 2017/8, Internet connection there is slow and intermittent. You have to go outside and find the nearest cell tower to get a decent connection (but still intermittent).
That's a few years back, so it might be far better today. (Oh, back then, Globe had better coverage than Smart. Not sure now.)
However, since the heat is generally coming from the Pacific Ocean, blowing through the Philippine Sea, then inland, it is probably hotter in Aurora province. Then again, you're planning an August trip, if things get better by then, Baler will be a good option.
La Union. Last I went there was in the 90s. The last time I passed by the area was in 2019. Too crowded with establishments and tourists. It is no longer the La Union that I loved. From a friend, Internet in the area is very good and stable. Actually, the entire Ilocos Region (Region I) has a very good Internet infrastructure. It just that, if you like to stay away from crowds, it will be hard to do so unless you enter residential areas and go outside the usual tourist spots, literally go local.
Zambales. Nope. No info to share. Last time I went there was in the mid 90s.
You might want to consider Bataan, especially if you want to reconnect with nature and history. Internet's good. Though the closer you get to the mountainous areas, the more challenging it will become. Trees + mountains are not a good combination for mobile signals. Maybe they improved the infrastructure, but, quiet environment, Bataan is a good place to consider.
Filipinos have a thing for seeking out familiar flavors abroad. Some people crave a taste of home, a connection to their identity while living in a foreign country. It's like a little piece of the #Philippines wherever they are. Others might do it out of patriotism, a way to support Filipino products even overseas.
Actually, this isn't unique to Filipinos. People from all cultures enjoy familiar flavors, even if they know the local version might be more authentic. It's like comparing family recipes – there's always a curiosity about how others do it, even if yours is the best. 😉
@neuronakaya Yep. I often joke about it this way, “We traveled XX km just to eat at a Jollibee branch, instead of trying the local dishes.” (Using Jollibee as an example.)
=))
And then we joke about how the branch is different. Different sources, different cooks, different air, and all that, and just laugh at the silliness of it all.
I think, it also has something to do with familiarity and “playing it safe”. Like, for example, I have gout and religious considerations. While I am not picky with food, it's safer to eat familiar food, as it can give some confidence I won't accidentally trigger my gout and mess all the travel plans (and well, work, if it triggers much later).
(Some context: there might be ingredients and cooking practices that can trigger a gout. It's not easy to ask for ingredients, it also takes too much time, so a familiar food is the fastest and safest option. Also, cooking practices, like just using the same cooking utensils, pots, etc, because it adds to the flavour, but an ingredient from the previous food is bad for someone with gout, or some allergies.)
