I'm looking for for my company's night in a few weeks. I've already decided that, while it would be fun, I'm not going to perform WAP. I'd like to try to get the DJ to help me do Never Gonna Give You Up without announcing it first.

What would you sing, if you were a middle aged white guy with no sense of embarrassment?

Also, I'm a terrible singer.

Hey Mastodon, do you run, write for, or love a blog/website that is dedicated to discussing music finds, new and old?

If so, we'd love to add it to the Links page of our 1001 Other Albums blog. If you want to share with the class, drop your link below! Sites in any language are welcome, and can also include music archives/databases, podcasts, YouTube channels, and online radio shows. :ablobjam:

Bernardine Evaristo picks Fire Rush, Damon Galgut goes for Winnie and Nelson, while Anna Katharina Schaffner opts for Coffee and Cigarettes. Some excellent choices in @thetls of the year.

Friends who are older than me: do you have any good stories of encountering spam on the early internet? (PLEASE BOOST FOR REACH)

90s or pre-2005 please!

I might end up quoting your example in an article 😊

Looking for , please!

My spouse is having shoulder replacement surgery and facing a long recovery over the dark winter. I thought it might be fun to learn how to play some kind of game together - a , or , even role-playing like D & D...maybe?

We've never done anything other than a few board games. I'd like it to be fun for two people (or more), relatively easy to get the hang of, and for video games, no gun violence.

Thank you! Please boost :o)

Are there any good "feminist" out there? It doesn't necessarily have to have overt philosophically themes (but it def can), just anime that have well-written, well-rounded leading women characters.

A lot of the anime I consume has mostly hypersexualized women characters (I don't go out of my way for that, it seems like it's just kind of a staple of the medium). For instance, I really like shonens, but they can be super fan-servicey. I'd like to shake that up.

I know there are some great Miyazaki characters, but other than that, I'm not aware of many others. are very welcome.

I have been trying to find something to read, but nothing is standing out to me. I guess I am in a slump of some sort. Any recommendations are welcome. I read just about anything, but very little fantasy. I enjoy nonfiction especially nature or social justice focused. I love middle grade books and some YA. So throw anything at me and maybe I will find something to get me out of this slump.

: Shopping for a cart for groceries

There's a steep hill, with sometimes crummy, icy sidewalks, between my preferred grocery store and my 3rd floor walkup home.

Is there anything better than the foldup metal grocery cart they sell at the Ace Hardware in ?

Is it just me or is surprisingly good for and discovery??

Twitter interactions are mostly intra-fandom and Discord/Reddit really drill down on their niches. I just want one place to get all my genres.

Plus as a person who listens to a lot of / , gothy spaces online devolve to "that's not , let's define goth for the nth time" or people posting fits instead of music 💀
