I blocked because they force people to accept their for 1,422 ‘partners’.

There are better websites than them anyway. ^_~

I thought the cookie consent alerts were bad back in the states, but - WOW. If I lived here (visiting Europe), I would FAR rather have cookies just set and not be told about it vs. this level of in-your-face, at-every-turn COOKIE ALERT, without question. Oy.

One drawback of using an anti-tracking function and continuously deleting cookies is that when you donate to a free site you use, by the next session they have no idea it was you and are again asking for a donation.

Unless you sign in. But that defeats using an anti-tracking function.

The EDPS ("European Data Protection Supervisor") has released an open source tool called "Website Evidence Collector" that will collect evidence of personal data processing, such as cookies, or requests to third parties.

You can find more information about the "Website Evidence Collector" here: https://edps.europa.eu/edps-inspection-software_en

There's also a GitHub repository here:

Me explico:

In the kind of person who takes the time to reject on all websites that I visit, and it’s pretty usual to find websites using 600+ “partners” with whom they share my data. But I think I found a new one for my top ten in thegamer.com, with a ridiculous 1498 companies they share my data with.

When you open the popup to reject the cookies, most of them are disabled by default, but they keep around 40 or 50 enabled under the pretense of “legitimate interests”.
I mean, isn’t their whole business to collect data to target advertisement? They might consider “legitimate” to collect as much as they can.

Today I filed a formal complaint against with the Irish Data Protection Commissioner for their illegal deployment of detection technologies.

Under Article 5(3) of 2002/58/EC YouTube are legally obligated to obtain consent before storing or accessing information already stored on an end user's terminal equipment unless it is strictly necessary for the provisions of the requested service.

In 2016 the EU Commission confirmed in writing that adblock detection requires consent.

You can help by filing your own complaint here:

    https://forms.dataprotection.ie/contact

The more complaints the DPC receives - the quicker they will act.

You can use my complaint to help write your own (attached).
