The year was 1985 and I stole my first Mac. Apple had just released the Mac and wanted companies to make things for it. They gave HESware (where I work before Lucas) a Mac. No one at the company was interested in it so I asked if I could take it home for the weekend. When I got back to work on Monday they laid everyone off. I filed to mention I had the Mac at home. I've used Macs ever since.
On January 24, 1984, Macintosh computers were introduced by Apple. Happy Birthday 🎂 Today, Mac is one of the few certified #Unix machines you can buy easily. Do you use a Mac?
@nixCraft WOW! Crazy! 40 years!! ❤️ I loved and love all the Macs I had and still have. Joined the party ca. 2001 with a white G3 based iBook (I think it was the „Dual USB“ model). Even when development started in summer '79 it took twice as long as Apple expected, not only because they had to get rid of Jobs first. So LISA wasn't launched earlier than 1983 with 1Mb RAM for almost U$D 10K. The project was a $50 million investment for Apple Inc., and kept losses low since it sold almost 5K units annually. After 27 months it was in-house competition that buried the Lisa computers, litterally. In the end it was a zero sum game for Apple, but a huge step for modern graphic user-interfaces and more personal computers.

@nixCraft Does anyone more knowledgeable than I out there know if the move to #Apple silicon from intel impacted development on the #Mac platform? As a user of Mac’s I can tell you that most of the open source stuff I used to use in Mac’s went away with the demise of 32-bit libraries, even #KDE used to have apps for Mac that I used to have installed via Fink. I don’t know if the change in silicon put additional downward pressure on number of developers/apps and garbled their earlier code or not
.. wow I lost touch with the SK Roughriders, we had access through TV once and watched the #GreyCup yearly. It’s tragic that no one wants to pick that up here in the States.

Just updated my #Mac to #Sonoma and I'm now getting these little hints but they don't appear to work, i.e. tapping 1 (or cmd-1) doesn't actually do anything.
So more than a year on, @protonmail still hasn’t released a #MacOS Proton Drive app. Why? It’s very frustrating. Proton should have #Mac and #Linux versions of all its apps, and they should all be updated frequently. Not everyone is willing to use Microsoft Windows. #tech#privacy#cloud#Proton

A dziś do kolekcji dodałem Mailmate. Zaawansowane filtry jak w genialnym windowsowym The Bat! Np w tym folderze pokazuj tylko maile od Allegro i tylko z takim tagiem i z ostatnich 7 dni. Takie rzeczy. Co ja zrobię że lubię mieć porządek.
Czy warto zapłacić prawie 300zl - wątpię. Tym bardziej że ostatnia wersja jest sprzed ponad 3 lat a beta z początku tego roku i cisza. Szkoda bo ponoć na OSX nic lepszego nie ma. Cała nadzieja w Spark. Albo wrócić na Windows i zainstalować The Bat!... #osx#mac#Apple#mail#software

What do people use for #bittorrent on #Mac? I am currently using Vuze, but it's so super spammy. The only reason I manage to use it without it installing all sorts of spammy features is that they all appear to be blocked by my pi-hole. Nothing seems that great.
