Hey, and bubble. I'm trying to find a way to detect that my phone is charging in the charger next to my bed. On android, the homeassistant app had a sensor that said "charging wirelessly", which I used for that, but the app doesn't seem to have that.

Anyone have any suggestions? Cheers.

    Good.

Apple has repeatedly demonstrated they will do whatever they can to tighten their grip on US consumers and app developers while intentionally and artificially making it as painful as possible to interoperate with others. It’s straight out of the 90s Microsoft playbook, but cranked up to 11.

We've updated the rules of our flagship server mastodon.social today. Most are the same with some clarifications, but one rule is new: Content created by others must be attributed, and use of AI must be disclosed. Profiles that only post AI-generated content will not be tolerated.

@Gargron What exactly is AI? Every single photo I shoot with a Google or an has undergone extreme postproduction from the device itself. Every image that is taken by a and then piped through has applied to it. Where is the fine line to the zone where we need not to disclose the usage of ?

Here’s a clear example of how aggressive the image processing has become on newer iPhones. This is a comparison between the iPhone 15 Pro Max and the iPhone 11 Pro Max, taking photos of distant text at equal magnification. Note how the 15 Pro Max’s image pipeline has made up all the details.

EDIT: I’m going to drop mentions of “AI” and “hallucinating” here because I think it’s conjuring up the wrong mental models in readers’ heads. What’s likely happening is over-eager noise reduction and sharpening (which may or may not have pattern matching) creating details where none exist. Every phone does some amount of NR and sharpening, but later iPhones are super aggressive in this regard, so much so that the results often depart from what we accept as “reality”.

    Original video: https://www.facebook.com/watch?v=885196069752553

Video of a person taking a picture of distant text on iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 11 Pro Max. The newer iPhone renders the small text as gibberish, while the text is easily legible on the older iPhone.
