There’s a surprising connection between super-competitive workplaces and gender inequality at work. Two behavioral economists looked at the differences between men and women in how they respond to the chance of getting a bonus.
They found that women are less willing to persist in high-stakes tournaments, although they’re equally motivated to start in hopes of a bonus.

Say what you will about Tesla, but they were the only car company who said they both require a court-ordered warrant before sharing your vehicle's location data AND tell customers about demands for their data.
This finding comes from the office of Sen. Ron Wyden, which asked the association representing automakers how their members respond to law enforcement requests for location information collected from internet-connected cars and trucks.
I've been thinking about starting a #business that removes all data tracking from new #vehicles. That or advising another #entrepreneur on my idea for it. Its a service that I would love to have for myself.
Many companies are pushing employees to return to the office. But what's the environmental impact?
@grist explores the question: "Recent data suggest that remote work could speed along companies’ plans to zero out their carbon emissions, but businesses don’t seem to be considering climate change in their decisions about the future of office work."
#Tesla’s Profit Fell 55%, Adding to Concerns About Its Strategy
The first-quarter results will very likely fuel worries that competitors will continue grabbing a bigger slice of a #market dealing with slowing #ElectricCar sales.
The Federal Trade Commission has voted 3-2 along party lines to ban new noncompete agreements and make most existing agreements non-enforceable for everyone other than senior executives. FTC Chair Lina Khan says lifting the ban will allow workers the “freedom to change jobs,” which “is core to economic liberty.” The decision is expected to be challenged by the Chamber of Commerce, which argues noncompete agreements protect trade secrets. Read more from CBS News about the decision.
President Joe Biden vows to shield the U.S. steel industry by blocking Japanese merger and seeking new Chinese tariffs.

"When we blame "laziness" for tech #monopolies, we send the message that our friends have to choose between life's joys and comforts, and a fair economic system that doesn't corrupt our politics, screw over workers, and destroy small, local businesses. This isn't true. It's a lie that monopolists tell to justify their abuse..." - @pluralistic
