I’ve just watched, and been totally shocked by, the talk that Andrew #Feinstein (Exec Director of #CorruptionWatch in the UK and author of ‘The #Shadow#World’) gave in Canada in 2017 entitled ‘The Shadow World of the Global Arms Trade’!
Seems to me you can try ‘beating back the corporate takeover’ of the US/ UK/ EU etc all you like along the lines you suggest above, but unless the conditions that allow the Permanent War Complex to dictate policy around war instead of diplomacy you’ll be beating your head against a proverbial brick wall!

I'm unashamedly a world federalist. If humanity wishes to survive into the future and become a spacefaring civilization, then it must eventually unite. A direct democratic global federation should be the ultimate goal. Let's start with a United States of #Europe, and a North American Union. Gradually, the rest of the world should follow suit. East Asia and the Middle East are in dire need of their own supranational federations as well.

If the US/West fail to stop these 2 things, then the right of conquest, which became illegal after the end of WW2 according to UN intl law, will be normalized again. And if that happens, then the world will head towards WW3. It'll encourage copycats to do the same thing.
