FYI - is NOT . The license is categorically not open source. Among other things, the llama 2 and 3 licenses explicitly violate Field of Endeavor.

I see all sorts of blogs and marketing materials claiming things are "open source" because they used llama somewhere. Please do not take these claims at face value.

I see there's some sort of "how's Linux now" discourse going around Mastodon and so I'll give my brief summary:

To be blunt, Linux is just the least-shit option to run on your PC nowadays lol.

If you want a good start, try Kubuntu https://kubuntu.org/, I get along great with it. Familiar interface, without all the shovelled shit Microsoft constantly try to force on you. Same KDE Plasma interface Valve use for Steam Deck's Desktop Mode.

@gamingonlinux I'd actually go with Tuxedo OS. It's basically Linux Mint with KDE. Including flatpaks instead of snaps, newer KDE Plasma versions, and with newer kernel and Mesa versions than Kubuntu.

Seriously though, just play @CassetteBeasts I have so few complaints on it and it's probably one of my favorite indie games of all time, and it's made with Godot, works on Linux natively, and the developers are on the fediverse! Not to mention, they seem very receptive to fans, unlike that other company...

@itsfoss Bottles, because it makes using Wine (for running Windows applications like Ableton Live) so much easier and not affect your system's Wine installation (because of the containerized approach). It's also FOSS and on Flathub for easy installation.

@gamingonlinux I mean, if a person really needs a Windows only program that doesn’t work well with Wine, then maybe I’d say use a Windows 11 VM.

But yeah, Windows 11 (the original release no less) is what turned me from a dual-boot Windows 10 and Linux user to a full-time Linux user.

Enough is enough with these ads, this is getting really ridiculous. We just need more Linux pre-installed laptops; fortunately, @slimbook FINALLY has a US ANSI keyboard option for the Fedora Slimbook.

@frameworkcomputer If this eventually results in a coreboot option for the Intel Framework's (that aren't the Chomebook Edition), that'll be big for Linux users!

(Unfortunately, it seems like coreboot on AMD Ryzen CPUs isn't a thing yet...)

@arstechnica Honestly, if a family have kids and they refuse to get them their required vaccines for any reason apart from a valid medical reason (such as an allergic reaction to a previous dose or to the vaccine ingredients), then they should be charged with endangering the welfare of a child and have their kids removed from their home.
