@Tusky hey guys, there's this very annoying behaviour that's not exactly a bit could be... fixed?

i have two profiles configured with tusky (for posts language separation among other reasons) , and i often use that wonderful «open as <another profile>» feature to reply. all good there (albeit updating the stream before actually showing the post in question often creates a long delay, but it's tolerable).

here's where my real problem is: upon returning to the initial profile… tusky completely ignores the position (post) it was at and immediately goes to the head of the stream, so i loose track of what i was reading!

very annoying. remembering the position would be much better.

Filed a report re: missing counter-reset: list-item in the default UA stylesheet. It only shows if you use the CSS property all: unset. Chromium-based browsers have counter-reset included.

See: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1881517

Also see: https://github.com/elad2412/the-new-css-reset/issues/75

Got an update. It turns out other browsers are not implementing HTML lists using CSS, that's why when using the CSS property all it still works.

It's not a because the all property did reset the counter-reset property as per the CSS spec, and it is in Firefox's default UA stylesheet.

To quote Emilio Cobos Álvarez (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1881517#c4):

> Yeah, this is not really a regression from that change, and this is really invalid. Firefox implements CSS lists using CSS counters as per spec, so you're really resetting https://searchfox.org/mozilla-central/rev/a8cc31504a2379bcf8ba395d2da7bb632b5521d6/layout/style/res/html.css#570.

> The issue is that other browsers don't implement html lists using CSS.

In other words, if you are using the modern way to do a :

* {
 all: unset;
 display: revert;
}

You also have to re-add counter-reset: list-item to ol like so:

ol { counter-reset: list-item; }

This is why I love Firefox, they stick to the specs. You learn in the process.

There’s a special circle of hell for the “This file contains ambigious Unicode characters” overlay on @Codeberg

No, it doesn’t, it uses proper curly quotes and other typographically-correct punctuation in comments and strings.

Thought we’d fixed this in Forgejo but apparently not?

Really making me not want to link to my source code on Codeberg and I don’t want to migrate elsewhere right now when everything else is working so well.

e.g., see https://codeberg.org/kitten/app/src/branch/parameter-objects/examples/markdown-preview/index.page.js

Screenshot of source code with ugly yellow warning sign emojis littered throughout wherever proper typographical punctuation has been used in comments.

I guess now we know the small reach of groups is indeed a Guppe or (working-as-intended).

I've noticed this since last year, after Guppe went down for almost a month(?); but I thought it was just me, or a temporary scaling issue with Guppe. But there's no denying it anymore, Guppe's reach is now very limited.

Read this: https://catodon.social/notes/9o5rig8kn30k3hdw

If similar software / platforms work fine (like forums, groups, magazine, and communities) then the logical conclusion is this issue is on the side of Guppe groups.

Major communities still using Guppe groups should consider moving to Chirp, Friendica, Kbin, or Lemmy, if they want to reach network, until this is fixed.

Fixes are in preparation, but builds will take a bit to complete.

RTR#32 Further refactoring, debugging voting errors ( kbin.social )

Today, I continue with code refactoring, getting closer to finishing the most tedious part. I've also improved tools to prevent spam on the instance, which will take effect in a few days, addressing the issue of overloading other instances that have been reported. After today's wave of spam, I've also started working on...

Great! This is likely the most on Kbin right now so I'm glad it's getting fixed.

Hmm… I'm not sure if this is a or a ; or instance related.

I uploaded a photo via Pixelfed (see: https://pixelfed.social/i/web/post/624923545311658085 ) with hashtags.

However, when it appeared on the Mastodon side of things, there is a hashtag that I did not add (see: https://c.im/@youronlyone@pixelfed.social/111329292335214827 )

That new hashtag is:

I'm not sure which software or instance added the hashtag.

  • Software: Mastodon or Pixelfed?
  • Instance: c.im or pixelfed.social?

A screenshot of the post from Pixelfed as it appears on Mastodon, with a hashtag that was not there in the original post.

Interestingly, over at (see: https://firefish.social/notes/9lhsb7fcovh9kol3 ) the hashtag for is an active link that points back to ; all other hashtags are normal hashtags.

Could it be a Pixelfed ? Some hashtags are sent as a link or something?

I feel like this (?) gets worse with every release. I really wish @Mastodon or would add a setting to disable "virtual scrolling" or wherever is causing this until it's fixed.

I have a sneaking suspicion that it might be related to long-toot collapsing. I've only noticed it on mobile so far. FWIW my default safari zoom is 75%.

I am in the Windows Insider programme, and noticed since July that in the latest file explorer I can use ^C or ^X on files, but not ^V in the destination directory. I have to use the little icon in the context many to paste the files into a new location.

I reported this in the feedback hub, where it attracted a couple of upvotes, but no more.

Is this rare behaviour? or is it common? have you seen it?
